I very rarely jump on bandwagons so today’s post is really about why I’m so bored at the moment. I’m bored of Blogging, I’m bored of seeing the same old shit and I’m actually not missing Blogging 3 or 4 times a week. In fact in my last post I write about how I’m lacking enthusiasm at the moment – I’m struggling for content ideas. My brain has temporarily shut down. And I’m not beating myself up about it. (Well I kinda am because I’m writing this post.) But I feel I need to physically write it down here that I’m actually giving myself a (mental) break.
I think it’s more of quick post to say I’m probably not around here as much at the moment. I’m never ever saying goodbye to Blogging, but I definitely need a break right now. A clarified “this is a break” kinda thing instead of radio silence here on the blog. For example, I want to go to Leeds Fest and enjoy myself, without thinking about replying to Blog comments and emails or scheduling post tweets. It’s important we give ourselves that break otherwise we can really run ourselves down. I think I’ll be gone for about a week or so, maybe two weeks (heck the Leeds Fest hangover can last a long while!) I can trace any break I’ve had back to this time every year where I go on a bit of a “hiatus” and sometimes it’s only lasted a week, once it lasted well over a month.
I head on holiday at the end of September and it’s going to be a week where I can relax. No deadlines, no nothing. I’m so so so ready for that. I can tell.
The negativity/positivity posts that I’ve seen flying around Twitter and within the Blogging community has just encouraged me to ignore Twitter and not be too bothered about posting on there so much. This isn’t a dig at anyone involved, but I know I’d rather be spending time in the real world, getting lost in books and being outdoors, enjoying my social/personal time without seeing petty arguments online. I’m just bored of it all. It’s easy to get sucked in and let it consume you, but this time I’ve thought “I’m too old for this shit.” Time to call bullshit on everything. It’s not that I don’t have opinion, it’s just I don’t actually have the time to care too much about things I’m seeing. I’m not being rude if I don’t reply to Twitter messages straight away, I’m probably just not online as much as I usually am.
So, there you have it, a very short and concise Blog post explaining that I’m giving myself a little break. If suddenly inspiration hits I’ll be back in flash. Don’t you worry, but for now, I’m giving myself some well deserved time off for the next week or so.
Enjoy your break. I think blogging is harder then people think, especially with all the drama and negativity that flies around Twitter etc. Sometimes you need some time away to clear your head, enjoy life, and come back to the blog refreshed. x http://www.aimeeraindropwrites.co.uk x
Thank you toots! It really is, it’s like another part time job keeping on top of everything! I’m feeling much better, I’m just not going to put so much pressure on myself.

Enjoy it! I have to take so many regular breaks from blogging because I find it too overwhelming sometimes, especially combining it with work. I’m too old for this shit exactly summarises my feelings as well! Glad someone else feels the same.
Thank you so much for this post. I’ve been feeling the exact same way lately! No motivation, lack of creativity and I’ve been feeling horrible about it. Thanks for reminding me that it’s okay to take a break every once and a while. Enjoy your timeoff!
Hi Kate,
You are not alone. I always go through this transitional period and it’s always around this time EVERY YEAR. I don’t know if it’s the realisation of winter (honestly, those dark nights are not the one!) I hope you’ve had a little break and come back more refreshed!
