  • THE “IT” RESTAURANT TO BE SEEN IN: THE IVY, LEEDS | QUEENBEADY

THE “IT” RESTAURANT TO BE SEEN IN: THE IVY, LEEDS | QUEENBEADY

Our meal was provided to us free of charge in exchange for an honest review.

This place is now the “IT” restaurant to be seen in. The Ivy Leeds. It’s has brought a slice of the famous London restaurant scene up here to the North and there’s plenty more popping up left, right and centre. It begs the question – is it loosing it’s exclusivity? But fear not, the moment you walk in to the restaurant you are met by warm hostesses to check you in and lead you through the closed-door in to a festival of colour and 1920’s elegance that is the décor of this place. If anything, this place is a feast on the eyes! We hoped the food would also follow suit.

    MARCOS ITALIAN LEEDS

Just under two weeks ago we stepped foot inside the entrance of Marco’s Italian, or, “Marco Pierre White New York Italian” to be exact. The home city of Pierre-White himself it only seems fitting to open up a restaurant here in Leeds for the local’s to enjoy. It’s location is a little bit out-of-the-way if you didn’t know it was there and is attached to the Ibis Style’s hotel just need Leeds Direct Arena so it’s great for catching a bite to eat if you are seeing a show or concert. I’ve always been a little sceptical of hotel restaurants but luckily, the Firelake at the Radisson Blu changed my mind on that earlier on this year. When I was invited I had completely forgot that I had already been to the same chain in Oxford, so I was hoping this visit would blow me away and be a little more memorable!

Our local village has become a thriving little place to be. Boston Spa was always considered as either for the rich and stuffy, or the working class. There was no in between. With the demise of local eateries and a few pubs, our village began to look a little desolate. Fast forward a few years later and the high street is now filled with gorgeous new spots where I can a) get my coffee fix and b) EAT ALL THE BRUNCH. Because we all know how much I love brunch. Regeneration is fabulous thing and we are reaping the benefits because that is where Tom Foolery comes in.

When the opportunity arises to try out a new menu at a local restaurant it’s very hard for me to say no. I mean come on guys, food. ALL THE FOOD. As a keen bean I’m always intrigued to see what different eateries have to offer. The older I get, the more I enjoy the slightly finer things in life (but hey, that doesn’t mean I’m not adverse to boshing a foot-long steak & cheese subbers every once in a while. Ya with me?) So, when the invitation to see what the Firelake Restaurant at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Leeds dropped in, I was pretty interested. After I did a little research online, it seemed that this was much further away from being “any old hotel restaurant.”

This Christmas both Mr C & I managed to wangle the full week off. HALLELOOOO. That means a full week of indulging in all things fine (and terribly unhealthy) whilst enjoying one another’s company (which has been divine if I may say so myself.) So naturally, when we were invited to spend a tab of £50 at Jamie’s Italian in Leeds this week we of course said yes. What can I say, we just enjoy food so much. So for anyone who doesn’t know, Jamie’s Italian was founded by Jamie Oliver and his Italian mentor, chef Gennaro Contaldo, back in 2008, with the first restaurant in Oxford. Now they have more than 60 restaurants worldwide with even more in the pipeline.
