5 Reasons Why I Love Amsterdam | QueenBeady

    Look Up

When I (often) discuss my love for Amsterdam I am quite frequently met with a glazed expression and the question, “of all the places in the world, Amsterdam?” and my answer is and always will be, YES. I have travelled to Amsterdam numerous times over the years with Mr C and I have also visited as a young child on countless occassions to visit family friends in Holland. It feels like I should have been born there. I feel so familiar with the destination that I’d happily walk the streets on my own, on a night. That can’t be said for various towns & cities in the UK. Not that I have to explain myself, but I thought if I could persuade you all with my 5 reasons why I love Amsterdam, you might just all come round…

If there is one thing in life that I thoroughly recommend that anyone do, it would be simple. Travel. T R A V E L. Travel close to home, head across the waters, but make sure you travel outside of your own little bubble. For me, it gave me so much more confidence. I’m not talking about quitting my job and travelling the world (but lets face it, given the choice I think I know I would definitely pack up & go.) I’m just talking about getting on a plane for a weekend, a week or even two and exploring lands that you never normally would. Bikes and Canals of Amsterdam

My love for Amsterdam is fit to burst. I’m not sure I have enough room in my heart to love that place anymore than I already do, yet, I still manage to fall in love a little bit more each time we visit. This will be the fifth time James & I have visited the wonderful City together (I used to travel as a child to visit family friends) but each time we find a little bit of the city that we hadn’t explored before. We usually spend 3 nights or more visiting however the lack of annual leave meant we could only fit a 2 night break in before Christmas.

HOW TO SAVE FOR YOUR TRAVEL PLANS

I spend many an hour trawling various holiday sites. I want to visit every last corner of the earth. I feel that travelling is the most empowering and most educating thing you could ever do, otherwise you aren’t open to new foods, cultures & lifestyles. It breaks my heart that some people refuse to leave England or worse still, expect all the comforts of home as soon as they set foot on foreign soil. Of course, travelling costs a lot of money. The time old quote of ”If travelling were free, you’d never see me again” rings many bells. I manage between 2-3 holidays a year, I’m on an okay-wage and own my own house and often people ask us how to save for your travel plans  (and how the heck we can afford to go on so many holidays) so I’m hoping my tips can help you travel on your holiday of a lifetime and make your dreams come a reality.
