    Bikes and Canals of Amsterdam

My love for Amsterdam is fit to burst. I’m not sure I have enough room in my heart to love that place anymore than I already do, yet, I still manage to fall in love a little bit more each time we visit. This will be the fifth time James & I have visited the wonderful City together (I used to travel as a child to visit family friends) but each time we find a little bit of the city that we hadn’t explored before. We usually spend 3 nights or more visiting however the lack of annual leave meant we could only fit a 2 night break in before Christmas.

HOW TO SAVE FOR YOUR TRAVEL PLANS

I spend many an hour trawling various holiday sites. I want to visit every last corner of the earth. I feel that travelling is the most empowering and most educating thing you could ever do, otherwise you aren’t open to new foods, cultures & lifestyles. It breaks my heart that some people refuse to leave England or worse still, expect all the comforts of home as soon as they set foot on foreign soil. Of course, travelling costs a lot of money. The time old quote of ”If travelling were free, you’d never see me again” rings many bells. I manage between 2-3 holidays a year, I’m on an okay-wage and own my own house and often people ask us how to save for your travel plans  (and how the heck we can afford to go on so many holidays) so I’m hoping my tips can help you travel on your holiday of a lifetime and make your dreams come a reality.

    seaside staycation

There’s something so wonderful about exploring the local land. Whilst most of us dream of jetting across the waters to distant destinations, sometimes it’s quite nice to explore our own territory. Plus, where else can you get a good cup of tea other than in the UK? I was so lucky as a child to travel up and down the country with my Grandparents on holiday, my fondest memories were those spent in our static caravan in Sewerby near Bridlington though. We’d pack up the car on a Friday night after school and head up the A64 to the fresh sea air. We’d have late night fish & chips for our first supper on the promenade, with a quick walk round the amusements, pop in to the little book shop so I could pick an Enid Blyton short story book & then finish off with my favourite; a mint choc chip ice cream. It was so easy.

    #BlogAtTheBeach

If someone told me it was over a week ago since the #BlogAtTheBeach event, I’d probably look at you like you were mad. Time is flying, at a rapid rate. It’s pretty scary. It’s probably because I’m so fixated on getting the hell outta this country. ASAP. When I was invited to the event I knew I just had to go, having leaving the travel industry of eight years, I have missed talking about Travel immensely. The masters behind the event were the lovely IceLolly.com, which is a price comparison site for travel. Now that is my kinda website. They’d also lined up some excellent speakers for the day & I was ready to get stuck in and learn a lot.

    Veet 4

As the days keep ticking by, I’m slowly marking an ”X” on each day. I know I shouldn’t wish my days away but at the moment there is only one thing on my mind and that my friends is a trip to Mexico in 45 days. AS I’m dreaming of cocktails and lounging around on a beautiful white, sandy beach with nothing but the waves to keep my ears company I know I have some major prepping to do. Not only am I working out 2-3 times a week to tone up that dreaded tummy of mine – I’m also needing to keep in tact my hairy legs. Yes you heard me. I have a really hairy body. I actually kind of wear it as a badge of honour now & when the discussion arises of ”how much hair we had as a child?” I’m always first to raise my hand in the air and proudly say ”I looked like a monkey when I was born.” Here there’s even proof; You have to admit it’s a colossal amount of hair, am I right?
