Now, I aren’t going to lie. I am often drawn in to buying magazine if they have a pretty gift attached to it. So when I walked into my local shop & Marie Claire was staring at me, offering me a free Ciate Nail Polish in exchange for a £2 magazine, I quite literally jumped at the chance, dipped my fingers in to my new italian leather purse and hopped to the counter.

These little Ciate Mini’s are perfect for popping in your purse just in case you ever need a touch up and they also come in the most adorable colours. I am loving the duck egg blue colour at the moment, so much so, that I dressed my bridesmaids in this colour. I think it is so flattering no matter what your skin tone. I have quite a few variations of blue polishes at the moment but I have to say this gets 10/10 for colour!

I started with my base coat and then built it up with three layers with the polish becoming less transparent every time. I have to say that the brush with this polish had to be the easiest one I have ever used. It effortlessly glided on my ill-shaped nails each time.

I didn’t even ruin my nails once. It dries so fast so it makes it super quick to put on. It dries so quick that when you are touching up the brush doesn’t glide so well. But all in all, I just made sure I had a steady hand and got it right on the next set of fingers.

I started to get chips 48-72 hours after I had applied it so it lasted quite well for a normal polish (especially without the top coat!)

Having tried the Ciate Mini’s I will more than likely be investing in some more exciting colours for the summer ahead.

What do you think of Ciate? Rate it or not? Have you got any favourite colours to inspire me?

Nails Inc Nail Polish #1 | QueenBeady

It’s Friday! I bet many of you are shouting out with glee but for me it’s been Friday for the past week as I’ve been enjoying a nice week off before I start my new job on Monday (cue the scary face!)

After reading Erin Louise Blog post on her new set of Nail Inc. polish set it inspired me to get my favourite nail polishes out & give my nails a once over.

Now my nails are not in the best condition due to copious amounts of gel & shellac sessions so I’ve been laying off putting on nail polish for the last few days. I filed them down to a nice rounded finish to get them looking remotely acceptable.

I chose to use George Street which is the nice pale pink (perfect for Spring!) & I sometimes like to jazz up my third finger with a bit of glitz & glitter so I used St. Martins Place from the Modern Art collection. I love the finish to this polish because its so different to your usual “glitter” polishes on the high street.

Please excuse the poor lighting but, I hope you can see the standard of these nail polished. Whilst I am a fan of Rimmel I don’t think you can ever beat Nails Inc. because they lasting finish with the is second to none.

The way these polishes went on was fantastic. Very smooth and it’s dries so quickly that you very rarely get the chance to smudge (& being a lefty I very rarely get it right first time.) It is ok to blame everything on being a lefty, right?

Now you must excuse me, I am off I see the vicar today so I must go & beautify myself! TOODLES.

Nail Art Review | Academy of Colour

Today is my day off so what better excuse than to get the nail polishes out & create pretty nails?

Just after Christmas I spent a mere £5.96 in the sale on 4 packs of 3d nail art kits. I don’t normally like to buy cheaper versions of nail polish because I like to make sure it lasts longer than few hours before it chips. But on this occasion I thought I would throw caution to the wind & buy something “fun”.

I wanted to create a very dark but glamorous look. So I decided to combine two different sets. I painted four nails black & it actually went on very well. It was easy to apply which is the main thing that makes doing my nails enjoyable. I blame my left handedness for the many mistakes I make when painting my nails! This has to be one of the nicest polishes I’ve used in a long time. On each hand I went with the 3d gold balls on the fourth finger to complete the look.

Overall I loved playing around with this kit & would not hesitate in recommending it to others!
