    SarahxSarah’s Post-Festival Recovery Guide.

Hello! I’m Sarah, another Leeds based blogger, Yorkshire born and bred. I absolutely love gigs, festival and anything involving live music. I’ve been to Leeds Fest several times but it’s been a while since my last visit!

This year I opted for Belgian festival
Groezrock and had a pretty inedible time, despite a VERY long car journey with 4 people and a lot of tents!  While the lovely Rebecca is away at Leeds Fest, I’m sharing some of my post-festival recovery tips for wellie toting ladies.

    1) Clean. Everything.

If you’ve managed to stay squeaky clean after a festival I salute you, but for most of us it’s a bit of a muddy nightmare. A good facial scrub is probably in order. Something to exfoliate the lingering festival dirt from your face and skin.

You may even want to go for a long soak in something bubbly, I recommend you go for something soothing with aloe etc. or something fruity to overpower that smell. Yes, you stink. You can’t smell it but trust me everyone else can.

Unless the hair gods blessed you (not fair!), it’s likely you’ll need to tame your post festival mane. It’s also likely you’ll need to de-tangle that mother. I do like Tangle Teezer type brushes combined with a detangling spray to help you out.

Bonfires and smoky smells in particular will stick to your hair. In your normal shampoo/conditioner routine, I’d recommend using a hair mask, something that needs at least 20 minutes to work. Finish up by putting hair oil on wet hair and you’ll feel like a new woman.

    2) Sleep!

Its pretty obvious but catching up on sleep is essential. Festival lifestyle is like a little bubble where you forget about the outside world and normality. Bring it back to earth by trying not to sleep all day.  Try to get straight back into a routine, it’s tough but it’ll make the return to the real world a little easier.

If you’re struggling and your ears are still ringing from the music and late night partying, don’t get frustrated with yourself. The worst thing you can do is over-think getting to sleep, you’ll keep yourself up!

Try drinking a soothing herbal tea, listening to some quiet music (the noise usually helps me after having music pumping for several days). If it’s still not going well, try herbal sleep supplements (make sure you read the bottle!).

    3) Water.

Again, pretty obvious and I might now be starting to sound a little like your mother. But it is really important. Even the most health conscious of us can forget to drink water whilst partying it up at a festival. Once you get back, especially after drinking, make sure you make an effort to drink water. If you really aren’t a fan, mix in squash or cordial and if you need a bit of an energy boost, get some dissolvable vitamin tablets!

    4) Reminisce

Even if you’re only back for your first day, your feet my hurt (tip – soak them in warm water!) and you might be tired but remember it was all worth it. Perk yourself up with photos and telling anyone who’ll listen how much fun you’ve had! You won’t feel so bad if you have good memories.

Don’t forget to check out my blog or follow me on twitter for a chat!

Hello, Hello, Hello & welcome to August! Can you believe another month has flown by? This month I am super excited as it is the month of Leeds Festival and I cannot bleeding wait. It is such an electric experience being at a festival and you cannot compare it to anything else in life.

When the lovely SOPHIE asked if some of us wanted to get on board with a ‘’Celebrity LookALike’’ challenge/collaboration I jumped at the chance.

    DSCF0752 (3)DSCF0756 (2)DSCF0761

Most of you know my absolute LOVE for the band, Haim. It sounds big headed but alot of people tell me about my resemeblance to resident Baby Haim aka Alana. Now I don’t know if it is because I’m pint sized or rock the middle parting? But apparently, I do. And of course I am ever so humble when people tell me that…. YEAH RIGHT?! You have to scrape me from the ceiling any time anyone says that because to me, they are my idols. Simple.

So because I’m not a huge make up junkie or beauty blogger as such, I thought I would take my own spin on things by doing a more ‘’Fashion’’ related post by depicting their style. If you want to read my post on Alana Haim’s Outfit Inspiration you can read it here! I tried to keep it very simple because that is exactly what Alana’s style is like.

My Hair. I literally wake up on a morning and this is what it is like. slightly wavy or kinked (in slightly annoying spots!) with my middle parting. I should probably do more with it, but it is just how the Haim Sisters rock it?!

The Top. This was another eBay find. ‘’MORE ISSUES THAN VOGUE’’. I absolutely love the over sized feel to it & I will be taking this to Leeds Festival with me this year. YAY!!

The Shorts. These are an old vintage pair of Topshop roll up shorts. Excuse the legs, lumps and bumps galore. But, you know whatttttt, I don’t care bitchessssss! Alana never goes on stage without parading around in the teeniest, tiniest shorts in her wardrobe and she looks super duper cute!

The Chelsea Boots. I love my chelsea boots but I haven’t worn them much as it’s summer and I want to get my tootsies out whilst I can. During the winter these are my staple, go to boots. They were from Barratts and cost £50!

The Socks. Oh my little frilly socks. I feel like I have rewound back to class 4 and I am just starting a new school year, with my brand new uniform on. Those were the days where you could get away with frilly socks. Not at the ripe age of 24! But, again, Alana rocks it. So that makes it ok, right? They were from Primark of course, priced at a cool £1.50.

Now, time to send you over to all the other girls collaboration pages to see how they rocked their celebrity inspired look! Head over to:

    Little Bit Soph– Lorde

    Polished Literacy– Taylor Momsen

    Petite Lab Rat– Jamie Chung

    BeautyBnk– Kat Dennings

Let Me Try This For You– Sophia Vergara

    Kenna Benna– Sophia Bush

Eye Have A Lot Of Feelings– Ellen Page

By doing this blog I have come across some great bloggers so that is so great! I hope you enjoyed and that you give everyone a good cheeky follow!

My eyes and ears have just been subjected to the horrendous music video that is “It’s my birthday” by Will.I.Am ft. Cody whatever his name is (he is that irrelevant on the music scene I just happened to forget his name only 1 nano second after it popped up on the a screen?)

Now, I am no music expert but I do like to indulge in bopping along to a good beat and gushing about my new favourite band (albeit no one is yet to beat Haim. Seriously guys, Danielle, Este, Alana, be my best friend already?!) but I’m pretty sure that singing “It’s my birthday, I got the dollar, I’m gunna spend my money” over and over and over and over (you get the picture!) again is not viably classed as music, surely? The video to coincide with the song was just as equally cringe-worthy. Id like to meet the person who directed that one, shake their hand and congratulate them on the worst video to ever violate my poor eyes.

Is it just me but the music that is being produced at the moment just incredibly dull. Despite grabbing my attention with the above song with its supposed “catchy” and “repeated” lyric and the very “quirky” video it was for all the wrong reasons. It made me want shove cotton wool in my ears & gauge my eyes out. And don’t get me started on these pre manufactured boy bands that are popping up from every orofice of Simon Cowells body; with their spiky quiffs, denim cut off jackets & guitar stances? What are you doing? I don’t want I hear about your teenage angst and how you love that “hot girl” because of “her booty” or whatever you feel appropriate to sing about. It’s not cool!

Whilst this is not a rant, merely an observation, I’m sure my audience will be divided with these thoughts (although I am secretly hoping you will be siding with me!) music is always going to have the drivel seeping through the huge, empty, music cracks. Ok. So I’m not going to bore you with my incessant whining but instead share with you the bands I am currently loving at the moment.

Clean bandit feels so fresh but has a slight circa early noughties club vibe to their tunes but they work it. With the up & coming Jess Glynne providing vocals on “Rather Be” you cannot help but get sucked in to singing out loud to this one. I simply cannot wait to see them live at Leeds Festival.

Jungle. How on earth can they be so cool. Literally every piece of music they are creating at the moment makes my ears prick up with glee. Again, I am ridiculously excited to see these guys at Leeds fest, I will be camped at the front early before lots of other people realise they are playing!

I had the Lucozade Energy advert song playing in my head ALL THE TIME. So when Lucozade answered my tweet sharing with me who this delightful female rapper was, Dominique Young followed me. Slight fan girl moment ensued. I quickly typed her name along with Leeds festival in to google and it was made clear, she too, would be performing in the 1 extra tent at Leeds! I have a terrible love for female rappers, I like to think I too am a rapper capable of I G G Ys terribly catchy songs!

I love finding new artists to gush about (especially before they become mainstream!) so I would love to hear about some of your favourites bands or artists at the moment so I can feel the love too! Give me a comment below and enlighten me please. Rebecca xxx

When you live somewhere for a long time you very rarely look past what meets the eye. You take things for granted and don’t see for what it is worth. This weekend proved that despite our local town being a ‘’same old, same old’’ kind of place we were wowed with the Wetherby Food Festival this past weekend. And as soon as someone mentions food, I am there.

So on Sunday afternoon we found ourselves heading down to the Ings by the river to experience some culinary delights and get our senses lusting after food that we don’t normally get to try! Cue photo overload.

First things first, we had to wet our alcoholic appetite and we were not dissapointed with the amount of drinks stalls availabe. As much as I love prosecco I really fancied trying some locally made raspberry cider. I can’t say I was overly overjoyed with my choice as it was extremely tart and still tasted like pear cider. I expected it to be like a mixed fruit type of cider. Clearly not.

Despite the terrible choice in beverage it was time to have a look round and see what food was on offer. I have a penchant for filling my stomach & I enjoy good food. Hence the gut that you may see in a few photos time. I am determined to go on a health kick so what better way than to spend my last Sunday as a ‘’free eating woman?’’

Who doesn’t love a good old, restored, vintage caravan? Hands down. THIS is my ultimate dream. I would just adore the chance of being able to restore my own caravan and create a pop up cafe from time to time as a little hobby. The guys at Crepe Escape have done an amazing job. And what’s better they have painted it in my favourite colour too!

Yep, there is fatty bum bum – I have indulged in a few cream cakes recently, my hair is windswept and Mr C can never take a good photo of me. I will stick to a tripod next time.

For those of you who care I kept my look simple and despite the glorious weather it was pouring it down in the morning so I thought I would put some jeans on. BIG MISTAKE.

    Top | Zara (eBay find)

    Jeans | Topshop Baxter

    Shoes | Birkenstocks

    Now, on to the food…

Mr C indulged in a super, doubly spicy chorizo burger which he said was extremely tasty. I have to agree it looked amazing as well.

I opted for Paella from Black Bull Paella. It was fresh and had just been made which made even more appetising. Big chunks of chicken & chorizo is exactly what I like in a paella. It was quite oniony but it was still delicious and quite spicy too. As fan of a little kick we were not disappointed with our choices.

I’m sure you will agree, EVERYTHING, looked amazing & so delicious. In fact my mouth is watering at the sight of the beautiful, hand pick strawberries. (Insert strawberry Emoji / heart eyes face here!)

Not only was there food and drink available they had kitted out the festival with two stages for performances it so it really felt like you were at a festival with some local, home-grown musical talent too! These guys below were awesome with the little accordian!

    DSCF0826

Honestly, credit goes to the organisers because I have never seen Wetherby so busy before and it was clearly enjoyed by all. The entry was only £2.50 to get in which was an absolute bargain for a full day of entertainment. I hope it is back next year, even bigger & better than this year!

What did you do this weekend? Does your home town offer something similar every year? I’d love to hear from you!
