I am a huge fan of Links of London, and I also enjoy the odd afternoon tea too which I’m sure you have figured from my Blog already. So when I got the chance to receive something from the Afternoon Tea Range with Links of London AND indulge in a little bit of cake, it was quite possibly written in the stars. How could one possibly turn down the offer?
Every now & then I like to delve in to the inner realms of the Independent Brands and showcase them here on my blog. Last time I interviewed Cara of Cupcake Couture which you can read about here! This time I’m chatting with Athena who owns & runs business, Karmisa. A new, upcoming jewellery brand that has all your go-to statement pieces. With Christmas coming up I thought it was an opportune time to have a chat with Athena…
So, tell us a little bit about the brand Karmisa? Karmisa is an online jewellery boutique. We specialise in big, luxurious statement pieces. Our jewellery is handpicked and reflects the Karmisa customer, confident and glamorous.
And who is the brain child behind this gorgeous brand? I’m Athena, I’m from Ireland and living in Dublin. I turned my fashion and jewellery obsession into a career and launched Karmisa in Spring, 2014.
What is your favourite piece of the Karmisa Collection & why? I have a few favourites depending on what kind of outfit I feel like wearing, sometimes boho, girlie or more edgy. Although my ‘go to’ piece would have to be the gothic rose statement necklace as it toughens up a girlie outfit. It also doubles up as a headpiece as seen on our brand ambassador Stephanie.
What inspires you on a day to day basis to create this unique set of jewellery? What inspires me when selecting jewellery for Karmisa depends on several things. Seasonal colours and trends but mainly what the Karmisa customer would wear and what I cannot wait to arrive in Karmisa HQ. You have no idea how ridiculously excited I get about jewellery arriving!
So aside from Karmisa, where else do you shop for all your accessory needs?
I don’t have any particular ‘go to’ shop. I find jewellery is an afterthought in a lot of stores and this is mainly why I launched Karmisa, apart from my love of sparkly things! I find a lot of pieces when I’m travelling. I love small independent stores and online stores too, which I usually find through Pinterest, Instagram and Twitter.
Finally, If you could pick 3 things what would you take on a desert Island?
It would have to be my laptop, a Wi-Fi connection and chocolate. Loads of chocolate!
I love the build up to Christmas, more so than the actual day itself. There is something so magical, just watching the festive lights in your local town or in the comfort of your own home staring at your own perfected Christmas tree. I enjoy the gift giving, far too much. I could spend hours on-line collating ideas for presents in the run up to St. Nicholas! Mulled wine, spiced apple & cinnamon candles burning, the German Christmas markets, there is always something nice about Christmas that fills me up with joy.
I also am a huge fan of picking out all the presents for me too (or should I say ”creating a mini wishlist” of things I’d love my husband to buy me!) the occasional hint gets me far and Mr C never fails to impress with his gift giving skills too. Boy, I am one lucky lady!
When Links of London got in touch about putting together wishlist on Pinterest of all my favourite items from their website I jumped for joy. I had an excuse now to look at all the pretties & create something easy on the eye. You can find my wishlist by clicking here! I thought I’d pick out a few of my firm favourites & share them with you all.
The Classic XS Sweetie bracelet is a must-have for me. It’s so timelessly elegant, especially for my little wrists. It’d look great built up with a classic watch and a few other bracelets too, or it can do all the talking by itself! A perfect fit for my jewellery collection. This is available for £120.00 here!
For me, a timeless watch is everything. If you have the right time-telling arm candy we will get along just fine. This paticular watch stood out because there were a variety of different colours available & of course, every girl needs a watch for every occassion, right?! If you are feeling generous towards yourself or a loved one you can pick this up here for a cool £450.00!
This little ring can be found on Links of London website. When I was browsing through the ring department I was shocked to see wedding bands too. Having got married this year I didn’t realise that Links did wedding bands & I was pleasantly surprised at the cost of them. This beauty above is so cute & I love the texture of it. It’s very different! You can pick this up here for only £85.00!
For men I usually find it hard to get them something. Purely because when Mr C wants something he will go out & get it. I absolutely adored the Men’s watches but was drawn to these unusual Skull cufflinks! I’m sure for those out there who have a slightly edgier partner would be thrilled to find something like this in their stocking this year. You can find them here for £150.00!
Have you seen anything on the website that has caught your eye? I’d love to know! Remember to head over to my wishlist on Pinterest and let me know what are your favourite pieces.
If you like the look of what’s available Links of London is giving you the chance to win your entire wishlist, up to the value of £1200, this Christmas! Click here to enter now!
