Wow, I can’t quite believe that’s it’s nearly two months since we were sunning ourselves on the rather hot Caribbean island of the Dominican Republic. I was lucky enough to work with icelolly.com on this trip (so, a massive thanks to them!) and I had so much fun filming our week away. We didn’t really get up to too much, so apologies for the significant beach and pool shots. So I really hope you click “read more” and watch my super short vlog from our trip away…
I’m sure you will be absolutely sick to death of hearing about my trip to Madeira. What with all my blog posts, twitter updatesand instagram postsI’ve not stopped banging on about it, so soz #sorrynotsorry. My last post is all about our full day Safari road trip of the East Coast, Madeira. The more rugged side of the island. We ummed and ahhed about whether we should do the East or West but after chatting with a local guide it seemed that East was more suited to what we were looking for, plus James wanted to go to one of the highest points on the island, Pico do Arieiro (I think Mr C has a serious thing for heights?)
Madeira is one of those places that you would rarely even think of to travel to. I have to say it, Madeira needs to be higher on your list. The main resort of Funchal is an array of terracotta roofed houses, mixed with cute white-washed buildings that house local restaurants, shops and fish markets in the old town and the slightly newer part of town has beautifully bright & coloured buildings that echo a similar vein to the towns that surround the Italian Lakes.
As I write this I still can’t quite believe it’s a little over a month since we got back from Madeira, Portugal. I have previously written a post giving you5 reasons why you need to go to Madeira shortly after I returned to keep the holiday alive that I won with icelolly.com at the 2015 #BlogAtTheBeach event. I suppose I have put off writing this post as a way to bring it back to life a month or so later, just so I don’t forget about it. My main comment to anyone who asked me “How was Madeira?” I simply replied with my overused, almost rehearsed answer, “It is somewhere that you never think of going, but it just blows you away when you are there.” It’s no lie that Mr C & I have both fallen hook, line & sinker for this Portuguese Island, namely because of the food we ate whilst there (on another level! Preach it!)
If someone told me it was over a week ago since the #BlogAtTheBeach event, I’d probably look at you like you were mad. Time is flying, at a rapid rate. It’s pretty scary. It’s probably because I’m so fixated on getting the hell outta this country. ASAP. When I was invited to the event I knew I just had to go, having leaving the travel industry of eight years, I have missed talking about Travel immensely. The masters behind the event were the lovely IceLolly.com, which is a price comparison site for travel. Now that is my kinda website. They’d also lined up some excellent speakers for the day & I was ready to get stuck in and learn a lot.
