I think a lot of the time people really focus on the negative sides of blogging. For me there are a few things I’d change but hey, who am I to say what should and shouldn’t happen within the realms on the blogosphere? It’s brought me some fantastic opportunities such as a trip to Madeira in March 2016, wonderful weekends away and beautiful clothes to wear. I haven’t even got to the part where I gush about the wonderful friends I have managed to make through it. I’m very rarely one for showing my softer side, I am very ”jokey” IRL and some people might feel that I’m very brash and sometimes a little too loud. But that’s me & people just have to accept that.

Life seems to be passing me by at a rapid rate at the moment. Blink and you miss everything. My life consists of a Monday to Friday job in an office, so you’d think that time would go slower than it does, but with a busy calendar it’s almost like my feet are moving without me even realising. I’m so grateful for the wonderful opportunities that my blog is seemingly bestowing me with at the moment. It’s exciting & exhilarating, I’ve finally had a moment in my ”blogging career” where I’ve thought ”I’ve had a special blogging moment” and that’s been a few times recently. That has taken FIVE WHOLE YEARS (remember this throughout the post). This is not a brag post and it annoys me to the very core that I should have to semi-advise/apologise for feeling good about something. Surely we should be championing each others achievements?

This is an open letter to all you Bloggers out there.

    M&Co Blogger Christmas Party (19)

It’s inevitable that as a lover of fashion or a fashion blogger you will find yourself at a Fashion Festival or a Fashion Showcase. I’m yet to make my way to London Fashion Week but I have managed to bag myself invites to PR events for Fashion Brands. But, how can you make those moments leave a lasting impression where you can really make the most of it?

  • Life’s Biggest (Non) Secret | QueenBeady

Guys, I’m going to let you in to a little secret here. It appears not many people know it. The truth of the matter is; you are in control of your happiness. There I said it. You’ll see on my blog recently that I (preach) talk about how I have finally taken control of my lifestyle which ultimately is making me a much happier person. I’ve conquered my wallowing in self-pity post-wedding & I’m doing things that I have meant to do for the last, eight years. Eight whole years. That is a long time. A long, long time to finally take charge. I don’t know if it’s blogging/connecting with some really inspiring minds that has given me a view to just seize the day. If it’s the fact that my pay packet is allowing me to do some of the things I regrettably wouldn’t have been able to do in my past employment or the fact that I’m really secure in my marriage. But what I do know is that a whole host of things have culminated in me going in to 2015 with a much more open mind. I think once you start rooting around you’ll realise that you can be the maker of whatever you want & that is a fabulous feeling.

So, what does make me happy?

1.) Blogging. It is corny & it is cheesy but blogging has really pushed me to do something I have always loved and that is to write. It might be absolute tosh, but all the same, it makes my day that I have possibly connected with someone just from my thoughts and words!

2.) My husband. Again, it’s the biggest ”cheese on toast” statement of them all. But, he is my rock, my everything really. He’s not the most romantic guy in the world (if you ever marry a Farmers Son don’t expect roses!) but when he has those moments I know he truly means it.

3.) Spring. I love it when the nights start to get lighter, its lambing time down on the farm, the daffodils are starting to sprout. Everything is coming back to life after a bleak few months of winter.

4.) Shopping. My online shopping addiction is fast becoming one of my favourite things. It gives you that chance to mmm & ahhh over what to buy without all the frantic shoppers pushing you around.

5.) Alone time. Sometimes it is just nice to have day at home chilling out on your own. PJ’s, DVD on & a cup of tea. Spending time alone is seriously undervalued. No make up, no effort. It’s one of life’s little guilty pleasures.

6.) Travel. I love holidays and heading abroad. Who doesn’t like to seek sunnier climates (oh, unless you’re my father in law) I want to travel the world & I want to do it with the people I love. I really need to start saving once I have passed my driving test so I can finally visit those places on my to-do list.

7.) My beautiful family. After my granddad’s health scare last year, I will never ever take my family for granted. A dear friend of mine has just lost her granddad & it breaks my heart because we were so close and teetering on that tight rope last year. Always make time for your family.

8.) Learning new things. It’s so great to open your mind to things you might never have really thought about, decided to do or better yet learn from someone else. Every day you discover more & more about yourself and the world. Don’t be afraid to open your mind up to those things!

9.) Music. Music makes the world go round (is that the saying?) I love going to gigs & festivals, my dream would be to be part of corporation that puts together big festivals like Glastonbury & Leeds Festival. Music can trigger a whole range of emotions.

10.) Life itself. We were put on this earth to make babies and keep civilisation on a constant repeat. Lap it up. Enjoy your however many years you are here, by laughing, loving, enjoying, playing, partying, indulging and being all round awesome. I am starting to say YES to so much more now and I’m not looking back!

There is no key to it, there are no set rules it’s just all about the simple pleasures in life that can invigorate the body & mind. What one person might find enjoyable, another may detest! My monthly #HappySelves chat took place on Monday & it was so invigorating to see people join in & spread positivity. Everyone instilled it in themselves and they did that without tearing one another down. Isn’t that just a wonderful thing? There are days that you wish you could be someone else, or do things that someone else has the privilege to do. But do you know what I would not change my life for all the tea in china.

Have you felt inspired recently?  Or had one of those long-awaited epiphany’s?

  • What I have learned about blogging in 2014 | QueenBeady

What I have learned about blogging in 2014 | QueenBeady

    Blogging 2014

As a reflection of 2014, the year that has seen my blog prosper & grow rapidly, I thought it would be great to share with you; my beloved readers, just exactly what I have learned along the way this year.

    • Having a blog break is just fine. After taking an unexpected break these last few weeks to give myself time to enjoy spending time with my husband, family & friends it has made me realise that you don’t have to post everyday! I went through a stage where I was just banging out post after post just for the sake of it, sometimes putting together an outfit or two that really didn’t look right at all. I’d rather get my content perfect (or as near as damn to it!) or not post at all. What on earth is the point of forcing it, it not only reads terribly badly but it also would have an impact on any future collaborations with brands.
    • I’m never going to be the next Zoella. So I should never try to be her. It’s easy to look at blogs and hope & wish that the next morning you will wake up & have the nicest, most read, photo pretty blog known to man (I’m looking at you Megan – why does your blog have to be so darned perfect!) Your blog takes time & boy, mine has taken some time but I sure as hell am so glad that it’s my little baby and it’s great to watch it grow. Even if they are slow & steady steps.
    • I do not have a work space. I write whenever I feel something natural coming to me. I think if I sat down in front of a computer or Mac I would freeze. Being a ”creative” comes naturally and should never be forced (see point 1). You’ll find me slobbed out on the sofa, not in the most dashing PJ attire with a cup of tea blogging. That’s just the way I like it.
    • Make friends. At 25, married & in a steady job I was never really going to meet new people, (however depressing that might sound let’s face it – it’s true!) but after submerging myself in to the blogging world this year and attending my first event, Blog Yorkshire, I have met some fabulous people (in real life I’ll have you know!) who I know if I need a lending ear/advice/general chit chat that I now have a select few people that I can turn to. It’s been super!
    • Suddenly brands start contacting you. Panic sets in, they want you to write about their product for money or a product. How can this be? LAP IT UP. You earned it. They value what you say and think your blog will showcase it well enough! That is an awesome feeling. If you feel the brand isn’t right for your blog but do remember, you can say no – however, I’ve seen a lot of people saying ”SAY YES TO MORE IN 2015!” so you might start seeing all sorts on blogs now from battery operated kangaroo’s to chocolate fireguards!
    • Have fun with it. Whether it’s your full time job or not, a blog is somewhere where people go to have a nice read of something. They want to feel happy & elated when reading your post, they want to get to know the editor/author/blogger/CEO (or whatever you want to call yourself!) behind the writing. Sometimes I find that if you aren’t seen to be enjoying it, your blog is pretty stale too. (Oops sorry!)

In 2015 I know this is where I can start to concentrate a little harder on my blog. This year has been one of those roller coaster rides with plenty of ups (but with any roller coaster you do have to come down!) I’m going to possibly invest in a new blog template and just go from there. I have no plan with my blog other than to keep enjoying it.

I hope 2014 has been kind to you all & I do hope that 2015 is even better! If you have any resolutions on your blogging journey I’d love to hear from you!

Take care & I hope you all have a wonderful New Year!
