MAKING THE HOME MORE HYGGE | QUEENBEADY

I think everyone needs a little bit of “Hygge” in their life. It’s a way of life that has been fully embraced by the UK over the last few months, this Danish concept roughly translates to “cosiness” within ones home and life. It’s a term that is definitely one I want to embrace, especially through the winter months when the weather becomes significantly cooler. Being snug is a top priority. One way that can drastically change a home in to ultimate comfort is by lighting several scented candles (heart eyed emojis all round) and making the house smell nice in the process too. This oriental spice & cherry blossom candle from The English Soap Company is no exception to the rule.

I’ve been pretty darned stressed out these last few months due to one thing and another so making sure I’m feeling relaxed and surrounded by a conducive environment is paramount. Amara Living asked me to pick out a few pieces and this Neom Organics Intesive Treatment for stress relief  was high up on the shopping list. It only uses 100% natural products with 24 pure pressed essential oils designed specifically to reduce stress levels and calm the body ,(something I definitely require) The fragrance includes sweet and woody cedar wood, leathery cognac, spices and a hint of lime and black pepper. Simply rub it on to various pressure points and breath deeply, in and out for 7 seconds to let the aroma work it’s magic. I instantly felt calmed and far more “zen” than expected. It pretty much comes everywhere with me in case things get a little bit difficult.

We are in the midst of re-modelling our kitchen. Walls down, dust everywhere and tools on every work surface so trying to make home feel more “home like” is becoming increasingly difficult in and around the building work. This gorgeous diamond rug from Amara Living is now sitting pride of place in our hallway to greet people in to our home. It feels so cosy underfoot which I hope sets the scene of a Hygge home! I’m hoping to decorate the downstairs in neutral hues of greys and white once we have our new kitchen fitted.

I couldn’t think of anything more Hygge than having a large bookshelf or a hoard of books ready to be read. I’ve been reading a few more self-help books to channel a more positive outlook on life in amongst my easy reading fiction novels that I always manage to get lost in. Put all the above together in one room and quite frankly, it’s a great recipe to making a home more Hygge. Would you agree? Have you embraced this new wave of lifestyle – have you any more tips for me?

This sounds perfect! All you’re missing is some cosy PJs and a snuggly blanket I think 🙂 x

I’ve just purchased some from La Redoute in the £100 off £200 and I can’t wait to have a lazy Sunday in them!

I know hygge is a relatively new idea over here, but I swear I’ve been doing it for years – candles, blankets, a good book, check, check, check! (Also, Life Changing Magic of NGAF is the BEST!) It’s just the urge to hibernate and be cosy, right? That hits me about mid-September usually and doesn’t go until at least April or May (Yorkshire, why you so cold?!?). And I agree, it’s really flipping hard to feel all cosy when your house is a building site. I know we’re only doing our bathroom at the minute, but the whole of the upstairs seems to have got in on the act, as well as the dining room being full of bits of stuff and bags of adhesive and whatnot, and everything is dusty and cold. I keep trying to shut the door to the stairs, light the fire, and forget about what’s going on up there – must be much harder when it’s your kitchen! But one cosy thing I am definitely missing right now is a long hot bath…I just cannot wait for it to be done. Maybe in time for Christmas?!? (Oh dear god, please let it be before Christmas!) xxx

I love how your house is coming along, I really wanted to do a before & after post of the kitchen but the photos are pretty naff and they started the work when I wasn’t there. Who knows, I might do it eventually.

I have to say when the clocks go back my body just cannot work around it LOL! I get snuggled every night and don’t feel like doing very much at all. Yorkshire is pretty cold, however, it’s been quite mild so far. I hope it stays that way!

I’m ALL about the hygge (even if I have no idea how it’s pronounced, haha!) – blankets, tea, candles and being vertical are all main components of my weekend now 😉

I do love the theory of hygge, though to me it is just being cozy! I love the rug, they make such a nice addition to the home x

I love the concept of Hygge. My sofa’s are covered in big snuggly blankets, lamps scattered around. If I could light candles without the cat sniffing them and burning his nose, I would! Haha. x http://www.aimeeraindropwrites.co.uk x

This sounds bloody heavenly! Sounds like you have it down to a tee! I’m so lucky I don’t have that problem as I don’t think I could NOT have candles, hehe!

OH HAYLEY. You do make a gal blush, you really do! Oh lord, you are seriously selling that to me. I could just do with a nice bubble bath (I can’t walk after my friends wedding! Danced a little too hard!)
Its a super book isn’t it?

It makes such a nice change to see, “get in your pjs, grab your blankies, get a dvd on and chill out” rather than all this get to the gym and work your butt off, hahah!
The rug is gorgeous isn’t it?

Yes to hygge! I am big fan of the hype and trying to pop small bits of its concept in to my life xx

I think anything that can enhance your life in a positive way should be embraced (I say boo to the people who are sick of it and the hype, ha!)
