I wrote a while ago about how it’s okay to do absolutely nothing on holiday. At that point I was scrambling to make myself feel better for the fact I’d spent a week attached to a sunbed (rather than the bedroom because the room smelt hideous the whole time!) I was shivering in 30 degree heat and couldn’t be at least 5 m away from a functioning toilet (‘cos boy did I need to be!) All in all, I was not a happy bunny that I’d been resigned to staying at the hotel (& one that wasn’t particularly good at that!) and I so desperately wanted to get out and about. But fast forward nearly two years and we’ve just returned from a 7 night stay on the beautiful island of Jamaica and I will let you in on a little secret… We didn’t step foot out of the resort.
And, because of that I have a photo heavy Jamaica Photo Diary for you!

A HOME AWAY FROM HOME IN THE PEAK DISTRICT WITH SYKES COTTAGES

Ever just look around you and think, “I need a break?!”

Well, my life was starting to get like that and truth be told, I really needed a change of scenery to overcome this sense of what felt like impending doom. With deadlines, tiredness and lots of commitments, I was starting to run on very-nearly empty. I decided was enough was enough and I needed an escape plan, PRONTO.

You see, I always seem to get like this when I know I have time off work coming up so this getaway was something to try keep that anxious feeling at bay.

I started scrolling online for UK destinations that we could get to easily for a short, weekend break. (Trying to tally up two very different annual leave calendars can be so blumming difficult!)

We narrowed it down to roughly an hour and half’s car journey when we found the perfect home away from in the Peak District with Sykes Cottages.

Every once in a while you jut have to say, “to hell with it!”

The start of the year hasn’t gone quite the way I had planned, details one shall not go in to (but don’t worry, it’s nothing too bad but it feels like the tide is going against half of the time.) It’s the small moments of calm that I take pleasure in at the moment because everything else seems so frantic 98.5% of the time. I just feel like I need a lot of pampering to distract me from it all. So, when the opportunity arose to experience a little bit of luxury de-stressing at Rudding Park Spa, Harrogate I decided to grab life by the balls and enter a state of serene at this magnificent Spa.

I have two very distinct styles. One where I feel like I’m “put together” and like to channel the likes of Erica Davies, Lizzy Hadfield et al. And, then there’s one where I am heading on outdoor pursuits and when I’m on the farm. It’s an eclectic mix, but a balance I like to try to get right. We’ve recently returned from a weekend break in the Peak District with Sykes Cottages, which not only meant cosy cottage vibes but plenty of outdoorsy-ness too. Despite the sunshine being on our side, it was that blisteringly cold weather that you only experience in the Winter here. So, that means wearing warm, essential items to keep as tucked up as possible.

Well pals, we’re finally going on a (little) multi centre trip in June this year and I am stoked. There’s so much we have planned during our 10 nights of dashing around France that I feel like writing it all down makes it seem a little less daunting. With it being the hub’s 30th Birthday this year, the trip will be all the more special celebrating the next decade of his life (cripes!) We’re also travelling with Mr C’s cousin and girlfriend too, so it’s going to be a LOL a minute, there’s no doubt! We have a Music festival, sightseeing in Paris, A day at Disneyland followed by a few nights relaxing on the French Riviera to cram in.
