    MY 3 FAVOURITE UK CITIES (OUTSIDE OF YORKSHIRE)

    I’ve had the pleasure of exploring the UK a little more over recent years and sometimes I find a weekend on home turf just as exciting as jetting off across the pond. There’s something to be said for the amazing architecture, ever-growing brunch spots and museums that this country has to offer and it’s no wonder our very own capital has been named as the “Best City in the World” by TripAdvisor this year. But, aside from London Town, there are some absolute gems that I’ve loved visiting here in the UK – some of which I’ve decided to take multiple visits to as well.

    Never did I think heading to a cookery class would be a bucket list activity, but getting closer to my 30th it seems that this is who I am now. Who’d have thought it? When I got the coveted invite to try a Cookery Course at the Grand Hotel, York before it’s opening back in March I literally jumped out my seat and tapped in to my phone to my husband – “do you want to learn how to cook the best steak ever?” Of course, when he replied back I immediately accepted the invite.

    Never has a place spoken to me on such a spiritual level. Okay, so that might be painfully over the top, however what I witnessed with both my taste buds and eyes at the Wild Plum would bring me closer to that truth. Having stalked the Wild Plum all over social media I had decided that it was time I’d get a piece of the pie pancake. With Mr C on a stag do, me and a girlfriend decided to make the short journey over to Harrogate to see what all the fuss was about….

    I’ve inadvertently been coined a travel blogger, probably because 90% of my content now relates to travel topics – either UK or international. Either way, travel has fundamentally been the one constant in my life since I decided to leave my sixth form college all those years ago and delve in to the travel industry as a profession back in 2008. It seems such a long time ago that my 17 year old self decided that it was the path I was going to take and ultimately set my soul on fire.

    You know I’m one for my luxury for less weekend breaks and holidays to the Caribbean, but, I equally love a weekend spent camping here in the UK. The saying, “get yourself a girl who can do both” springs to mind.

    There’s something very soothing about hunkering down in your tent, with a big mug of tea from the thermal flask, listening to the rain “tap, tap, tap” around you. Of course though, you have to do it with some style – right? Here are some luxury camping essentials from Simply Hike we never fail to take with us on our trips…
