    I know a lot of people would turn their nose up at a coach holiday, and I really don’t know why because I was brought up travelling on coaches from a very young age and have always had very fond memories spending summers with my grandparents travelling the UK and around Europe.     Manchester is incredibly popular for live gigs and huge concerts with global, worldwide stars visiting from afar. So many have graced the many stages that are dotted around one of my most favourite UK cities.     Recently, we had the pleasure of heading away to enjoy a luxury Temple Spa Experience & Stay at Armathwaite Hall & Spa, in the Lake District. On our way to Armathwaite Hall & Spa, you roll off the A66 from the North, you’re met with bounding mountain-scapes far in to the distance, with white fluffy clouds floating neatly on top of them. I have always loved the Lake District. I always find myself asking exactly how did this area come to be so beautiful? Little over 2 hours from our home we can be in the Lake District so it has always been a favourite UK holiday destination both of mine and Mr C’s over the years. There’s something so peaceful when surrounded by water, it allows me to just switch off without a moments thought and the everyday stresses seem to dispel almost instantly. The idea of being able to enjoy this gorgeous countryside estate meant I could play at being a lady of the manor which was an opportunity I could not turn down!

    Before I even start, I have to say I had THE BEST weekend when we took a trip to the gateway of the Yorkshire dales. I know, I know spoiler alert already, but seriously, we had an action packed itinerary to make sure we got to see the whole of the estate had to offer and it was the perfect concoction of exhilaration & relaxation at the Coniston Hotel, Skipton. With an early start, from our home it took only 50 minutes to get there and luckily a brunch was waiting for us on arrival. And you know your gal loves nothing more than a yummy brunch!

    Ever just look around you and think, “I need a break?!”

    Well, my life was starting to get like that and truth be told, I really needed a change of scenery to overcome this sense of what felt like impending doom. With deadlines, tiredness and lots of commitments, I was starting to run on very-nearly empty. I decided was enough was enough and I needed an escape plan, PRONTO.

    You see, I always seem to get like this when I know I have time off work coming up so this getaway was something to try keep that anxious feeling at bay.

    I started scrolling online for UK destinations that we could get to easily for a short, weekend break. (Trying to tally up two very different annual leave calendars can be so blumming difficult!)

    We narrowed it down to roughly an hour and half’s car journey when we found the perfect home away from in the Peak District with Sykes Cottages.
