With three holidays booked and under my belt for 2016 already, you could say I’m virtually packing my suitcase for them all already. Of course my holiday attire is something I meticulously plan beforehand but I do very little planning for when I will actually be there. Whilst I do a little bit of digging on TripAdvisor for things to do I never really go away with a set plan of what we would like to do. Inntravel were kind enough to send me a Bradt Travel Guide to make sure I could make the most of my time abroad.
I was recently invited to visit and stay at the Great Victoria Hotel Bradford to review the hotel and what it has to offer. As Bradford is about 50 minutes to an hours drive away it isn’t a place that my husband & I would instantly think of visiting to go shopping (we have Leeds more or less on our doorstep) or to stay for the night (not close but not far enough to warrant it.) I was quite excited as I know the city has recently gone through a regeneration project and have seen fellow Yorkshire Bloggers singing it’s praises, plus it’s home to one of my favourite museums as a child, The National Media Museum.
When I (often) discuss my love for Amsterdam I am quite frequently met with a glazed expression and the question, “of all the places in the world, Amsterdam?” and my answer is and always will be, YES. I have travelled to Amsterdam numerous times over the years with Mr C and I have also visited as a young child on countless occassions to visit family friends in Holland. It feels like I should have been born there. I feel so familiar with the destination that I’d happily walk the streets on my own, on a night. That can’t be said for various towns & cities in the UK. Not that I have to explain myself, but I thought if I could persuade you all with my 5 reasons why I love Amsterdam, you might just all come round…
If there is one thing in life that I thoroughly recommend that anyone do, it would be simple. Travel. T R A V E L. Travel close to home, head across the waters, but make sure you travel outside of your own little bubble. For me, it gave me so much more confidence. I’m not talking about quitting my job and travelling the world (but lets face it, given the choice I think I know I would definitely pack up & go.) I’m just talking about getting on a plane for a weekend, a week or even two and exploring lands that you never normally would.
