When was the last time you really laughed? I mean like one of those side splitting, belly laughs that you very nearly, almost pee yourself? When was the last time you did something probably quite absurd that would have your parents/grandparents recoiling in horror? When did you like do something on a whim without a care in the world? And, when was the last time you took a time out with adulting and took time to embrace your inner child?

All of my life I’ve known I’m a little bit quirky, a little bit different. I never liked to follow the herd. And often, I felt like I was penalised for that. Going through school despite having lots of friends there were still some god awful people out there. I’ll always vividly remember someone coming up to me on the school playing fields, grabbing my hair and pulling me in to a crowd of people to try beat me up. The reason for it, I was never quite sure of. I’ll also never forget the moment an older school girl smashed my head on a metal bar on the school bus because her brother was also picking on me. I’ve sadly had to face facts that there will always be someone, somewhere not liking me.

The art of slow living. A hashtag on instagram that has garnered hundreds of thousands of photos linked to it. It is something we all seem to talk about on social media but is it something we all really practice? This weekend was the first weekend in a long time where I have had zero plans. To me, it was a blissful thought. There was no frantic rushing around trying to make plans and fill my diary with things to do. Instead, I filled my time “on a whim.” It was spent around the house and pottering around. What might sound mundane to some, it was actually something I needed for my soul. I finally got to practice #theartofslowliving for realsies.

I am enough to feel like I belong.

I am enough to feel like I’m strong enough to conquer every single day put in front of me.

I am enough to feel a million dollars when I slip on that perfect dress.

I am enough to allow myself to eat and drink what I please without fear of putting on a few lbs.

I am enough even if I do put those extra lbs on.

I am enough regardless of what I look like.

I am enough even if I don’t dress like that girl on Instagram.

I am enough even if you don’t like me.

I am enough to make life decisions without fear of implication.

I am enough to speak with anyone who feels that I don’t deserve their time.

I am enough even if I don’t have as many followers as you.

I am enough even though I can only afford last season Mulberry and not this years.

    I am enough. Full stop.

I am here for all the independent women. Praise the lord for all the strong, sassy, wonderful, kind women in my life that I know. But, I’ve been thinking about something recently. In fact, it’s something that plays on my mind, a lot. To me, feminism is so many things. But most importantly it’s the freedom of choice that makes me want to celebrate being a Feminist. Even in 2K17 I find myself interrupting men on a regular basis, reminding them that what they have said is pretty misogynist – trying to educate some can be pretty hard going but those are the first steps.
