Brunch. Quite frankly Brunch is fast becoming my favourite meal of the day. It’s the middle of the morning, when you’ve got a hangover and can’t even be bothered to move you know you need to eat but, you really don’t know what you want to gauge on? Well, that’s where my fave meal of the day comes in. There’s no rules with Brunch. I feel like I’m saying Brunch, a lot. But seriously, you can go sweet, you can go savoury. You can drink tea or you can drink Bucks Fizz – you decide. The endless possibilities that come with (sorry, it’s coming again) Brunch make it the most perfect excuse for indulging. With this becoming a real “thing” here in the UK, Leeds has needed to fill that gap in the market. Thus Ox Club at Headrow House was born.

    The Alchemist Greek Street

If there’s a cocktail bar that gets me excited in Leeds, it has to be The Alchemist at Trinity. It’s got a rooftop terrace, it feels so airy and light and the cocktails are divine. When I was invited along to visit their brand spanking new The Alchemist Greek Street, Leeds I knew that I had to give it a whirl. We’d been asked to review a full three course meal along with drinks to review on my blog and here I am to give you a true account of our experience. They describe their extensive list of cocktails of that of a “renowned Smokey Old Fashioned and the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party” rolled all in to one giving you a unique cocktail experience.

I turned 26 on Wednesday just passed. I had a mini-meltdown about turning twenty five. What was I doing with my life? Where had that quarter of a century gone? I was in turmoil. But this year I reached my twenty-sixth year without a care in the world. This time, I knew it was about making the most of my years rather than worrying about them. With that in mind I realised I need to now start treating my body as though it were a temple (excuse the pun!) so when Temple Spa got in touch with me to see if I would test drive some of their skincare such as the Self Defence Cream, I felt obliged to say yes. After all, this was a good place to start on looking after myself a little better.

    Beth The Works Tadcaster

Okay, so you like beauty & you buy all the products in the sun to feel good. But what if I told you that something so simple could make you feel a million dollars without having to put a slap of expensive foundation on? For me I’ve never really been in to beauty, queue the rolling eyes at the fact that I’m doing a beauty post, but hear me out. I’m very lucky, I have pretty alright skin. I’m freckly but I can work with that – it makes me a little unique and I’m proud of my ”angel kisses” as they are often referred to, but hey a girl needs a little pick me up every once in while. Am I right? My beauty regime consists of getting my lashes done. That’s it. I get them done by Beth at The Works, Tadcaster who uses Lash Perfect to create the perfect set.

Lady Betty Afternoon Tea Bettys 1

I’m a York girl through & through. Growing up in such a beautiful city, with so much culture, history and landscape is something I am forever grateful for. Ask me where I spent my summers as a teenager, the answer would be York Museum Gardens, that would be anyone’s answer. Where were you guaranteed that everyone would meet before they went for a trawl around town and the resounding answer would be York fountain (I can’t believe that they are demolishing it soon?) and hey, where did I get my first pair of baggy, pink cords. Hello, Forever Changes, DUH. The little emo/punk rock kid in me is squealing inside remembering all those great memories. But the one thing that is synonymous with York, both for those young & old is the iconic Betty’s Tearoom. Every weekend we would see streams of tourists snaking round the building on St.Helen’s Square & it was no different on this foggy Saturday morning. I was asked to come along and sample the Lady Betty’s Afternoon Tea in the Belmont Room & give my verdict on this famous York delicacy.
