The second full day with our weekend in Oslo at the end of May saw us head on a bit of a wild goose chase. We just couldn’t find anywhere like the Nighthawk Diner (if you click this link you will enter the world of the best breakfast I have EVER eaten!) for brunch that I had a (minor) paddy. We ended up sharing a Subway that was about 5 feet away from our hotel after a good hour or so of traipsing around finding somewhere to eat. Some of you may know when my levels reach “hangry” I am not to be messed with so the steak, cheese & chilli foot long was exactly what I needed to make sure we had a pleasant day seeing some more of the cities sights which were dotted around the city. The first stop was the Royal Palace and the view down to Karl Johans Gate which was only a five or ten minute walk from our hotel, HTL Grensen.

Oh Oslo, you are a town that is so fresh from anything we have seen before. So clean, safe and ever so cool. It’s safe to say that I fell completely head over heels in love with the Norwegian City of Oslo. It’s two weeks since we were there and I’m still walking around in that “holiday bliss” phase (which I’m sure will disappear soon!) After booking some very reasonable flights from Manchester and a rather chic hotel for Mr C’s Christmas present, I have been counting down the days since the 25th December for this trip. I’m hoping I can share with you some of the fun we had (go watch the vlog too!), along with places to see and things to do during our weekend in Oslo, and maybe you might just want to give this little corner of the world a visit!

5 Reasons You Need to go to Madeira | QueenBeady

imageI have so many memories to share with you from our trip to Madeira but first I want to share 5 reasons why you should travel to Madeira! I won this fabulous trip at icelolly.com #BlogAtTheBeach event last year and it is something I am truly thankful for. The holiday came at a time where my body just needed that break and it was time to soak up some sunshine and spend some quality R’n’R with my husband too. Whilst some say the island is the Blue Rinse capital I didn’t mind rubbing shoulders with the OAPs because Madeira had so much more to offer….

Poached Egg Love To Eat York

Getting to spend time with my family is so precious, because I don’t drive (yes I know a pitiful excuse for a 26 year old!) I have to rely on people or public transport getting me from A to B. Last weekend I decided I desperately needed a bit of mummy/sister time so headed over to York to do just that. I’ve been hankering to visit Love To Eat York, which is a cute little deli style cafe not too far from my parent’s house.

    Glass Jars

I hate to sound smug and be that guy, but this whole “mindfulness” thing is working out for me. Never have I felt so “in the now” and enjoying each day. I have hardly thought about the weekend (and we had a jam packed weekend away to look forward to!) that I actually feel like each day really is bringing me something meaningful, despite having to get up for work each day. I was so skeptical of how it would work for me, but it genuinely has made me feel wonderful. I read Sophie’s blog about “self diagnosing anxiety” – I am the same, and whilst I’ve never been to the docs about it, I know hand on heart it is something I have and do have to deal with on a daily basis. The moment my chest tightens and I struggle to take controlled breaths because of one quick, irrational thought I’d feel sick. Now, I take a moment, breath in and out and really concentrate on a positive thought. I can’t tell you how much that has helped me.
