I am here for all the independent women. Praise the lord for all the strong, sassy, wonderful, kind women in my life that I know. But, I’ve been thinking about something recently. In fact, it’s something that plays on my mind, a lot. To me, feminism is so many things. But most importantly it’s the freedom of choice that makes me want to celebrate being a Feminist. Even in 2K17 I find myself interrupting men on a regular basis, reminding them that what they have said is pretty misogynist – trying to educate some can be pretty hard going but those are the first steps.

Welcome to the 411 on how you should be charity shopping. There’s so many pre-conceptions about it that it’s time to dispel the myth. “Won’t they smell” (have you ever heard of a washing machine), “Someone probably died in that” (okay, a little grim but pretty sure they didn’t!) “They won’t have anything current” (you’ll be very surprised!) – these are just a few of the misjudged and scathing comments I’ve heard when I’ve told people who something I was wearing was from a charity shop. I think once people get over their repulsion of charity shopping with these handy tips, it might just make you think about your next purchase.

    IBIZA TOWN

Since we returned from Ibiza in mid July, my social media feed seems to have streams and streams of people enjoying the White Isle this peak holiday season. The island has this crazy pull to it, one that I didn’t expect to feel. I’d known many people before me that had visited year after year and I’d never quite understood just why?

I am an absolute die-hard festival fan. I love the atmosphere they bring, everyone is pumped up on energy to see their favourite bands so they can sing and dance along. The fruit ciders are casually flowing and everyone is generally having an all-round good time. I’d seen the line up for Tramlines Festival included one of our all time favourite bands, the Libertines and I was dying to see them again after we saw them live at Leeds Festival back in 2015. Luckily, my prayers were answered when I was invited by Festicket to be one of their #FesticketInsiders.

It is so easy to get intoxicated by the buying signals of influencers all over our social media feed. Should I buy this, should I book those flights, should I be doing this? It’s a vicious circle we can sometimes find ourselves in, trying to fit in with the crowd and keep up appearances. I’ll be honest, I’ve tried not to follow trends too much because I’ve learnt over the years that by stretching ourselves in that way can rail road us off the course of authenticity. And then it totally blows when you forget yourself along the way. I wrote a post entitled the Simple Things and it reminded me of all the things I enjoy in life that IĀ  take for granted far too much, even if they are cool or not. And my Self Acceptance post honed in on the fact that I’ve really started to accept who I am as a person and that has meant living by my own means and not by anyone’s expectations. It’s freeing and boy does it feel good.
