  • The Wedding Aftermath | QueenBeady

It was always going to happen. The wedding would fly past us and would be over as fast as you can say “I do” and we would be certain of our reality. Married life.

I wondered & wondered in the 18 month run up to our day of how I would cope after the excitement, the stress, the planning and the all round overwhelming experience of a wedding after it had all happened.

Everyone gives you advice on what you should and shouldn’t do for a wedding. Everyone has their two penneths worth of thoughts and feelings of what constitutes a good wedding. But no one prepares you for after that day?

I was definitely scared. Scared that I wouldn’t have any other hobbies or big events to plan afterwards. What would my spare time be doing now?

Well I can tell you, after a few little teary moments after we got back off honeymoon. I can assure you with two little words. IT’S FINE.

You don’t need to worry anymore for all you brides to be. It’s fine.

You can finally buy that handbag you’ve wanted without worrying about the wedding fund. It’s fine.

Your nights aren’t spent bickering about who sits with who and what flavour the cake should be. It’s fine.

You don’t have squabbling bridesmaid to make happy anymore. It’s fine.

And most importantly, you have your brand new husband or wife staring back at you everyday knowing that they have given you their heart and will now live your happy lives together. IT. IS. FINE.

If I had known this I think I would have relaxed more. It’s not about all the fact planning and what not, what really matters is that you have a happy marriage at the end of it all. That’s the key. You can have buttercream icing on your cake, you can peonies and roses in your bouquet, you can have the fancy smancy stuff. But what you will ALWAYS have is your lifelong partner.

For all of you wondering and for those of you who are not (yes, nothing I have wrote today is groundbreaking!) if Mr C & I survived it all. And the answer is yes, we did what we wanted through & through! We are more stronger than ever. He is my rock and everyday I just want to make him smile. The feeling is mutual. Despite people proclaiming that “a piece of paper means nothing!” I can assure you it has for us. I cannot wait for the next time that I can refer to him as my husband, the next time I look at him playing with his wedding band… It is just a lovely, peaceful feeling inside.

So just remember, it (will) be fine.

  • Music Monday | QueenBeady

My eyes and ears have just been subjected to the horrendous music video that is “It’s my birthday” by Will.I.Am ft. Cody whatever his name is (he is that irrelevant on the music scene I just happened to forget his name only 1 nano second after it popped up on the a screen?)

Now, I am no music expert but I do like to indulge in bopping along to a good beat and gushing about my new favourite band (albeit no one is yet to beat Haim. Seriously guys, Danielle, Este, Alana, be my best friend already?!) but I’m pretty sure that singing “It’s my birthday, I got the dollar, I’m gunna spend my money” over and over and over and over (you get the picture!) again is not viably classed as music, surely? The video to coincide with the song was just as equally cringe-worthy. Id like to meet the person who directed that one, shake their hand and congratulate them on the worst video to ever violate my poor eyes.

Is it just me but the music that is being produced at the moment just incredibly dull. Despite grabbing my attention with the above song with its supposed “catchy” and “repeated” lyric and the very “quirky” video it was for all the wrong reasons. It made me want shove cotton wool in my ears & gauge my eyes out. And don’t get me started on these pre manufactured boy bands that are popping up from every orofice of Simon Cowells body; with their spiky quiffs, denim cut off jackets & guitar stances? What are you doing? I don’t want I hear about your teenage angst and how you love that “hot girl” because of “her booty” or whatever you feel appropriate to sing about. It’s not cool!

Whilst this is not a rant, merely an observation, I’m sure my audience will be divided with these thoughts (although I am secretly hoping you will be siding with me!) music is always going to have the drivel seeping through the huge, empty, music cracks. Ok. So I’m not going to bore you with my incessant whining but instead share with you the bands I am currently loving at the moment.

Clean bandit feels so fresh but has a slight circa early noughties club vibe to their tunes but they work it. With the up & coming Jess Glynne providing vocals on “Rather Be” you cannot help but get sucked in to singing out loud to this one. I simply cannot wait to see them live at Leeds Festival.

Jungle. How on earth can they be so cool. Literally every piece of music they are creating at the moment makes my ears prick up with glee. Again, I am ridiculously excited to see these guys at Leeds fest, I will be camped at the front early before lots of other people realise they are playing!

I had the Lucozade Energy advert song playing in my head ALL THE TIME. So when Lucozade answered my tweet sharing with me who this delightful female rapper was, Dominique Young followed me. Slight fan girl moment ensued. I quickly typed her name along with Leeds festival in to google and it was made clear, she too, would be performing in the 1 extra tent at Leeds! I have a terrible love for female rappers, I like to think I too am a rapper capable of I G G Ys terribly catchy songs!

I love finding new artists to gush about (especially before they become mainstream!) so I would love to hear about some of your favourites bands or artists at the moment so I can feel the love too! Give me a comment below and enlighten me please. Rebecca xxx

  • The Wedding Diaries: The Rings | QueenBeady

We were so lucky that when we stumbled upon a local Wedding Fair at a local venue that we also came across two of the main suppliers for our wedding. The Band and also The rings.

The rings are the one thing that you keep after the big day (except the photos & memories). The only tangible object you get to keep should I say.

I was always quite adamant with what ring I wanted. Mr C had obviously done the most perfect job of picking an emerald shaped diamond engagement ring, the band was quite plain. I decided that to ‘’jazz’’ it up a bit I wanted a diamond band. And doth the lady protest. The lady got.

    Wedding 702

James ring was a plain band as he has quite a strenuous job that requires him to use his hands alot, in fact, I’m still quite shocked that he hasn’t take it off?!

The beautiful rings are from Iain Henderson Ring Designs and they were so helpful every step of the way. As I have teeny, weeny fingers my ring took a little longer to design but no longer than it would have had we have gone with Fraser Hart (that experience I will not go in to – so take my advice, always go with an independent jeweller who is passionate about what they do! Most of the time you will get a better deal too!). He has his own studio in his back garden in Bingley. One cold. rainy, miserable December night we headed over for our consultation and it was just delightful having that one on one time where you weren’t worried about the massive queue forming behind you. Everything was so personal. Even down the little bottle of fizz we got when we went to pick up the rings.

We were so happy with our rings & we are able to go back every year and have them buffed and cleaned professionally, free of charge! So stop what you are doing, stop scrolling through all those high street jewellers who WILL rip you off & royally so and head over to Iain’s website. Book yourself an appointment, you won’t regret it.
