  • Marriage Preparation | QueenBeady

The weekend of doom & gloom had finally arrived. We had both been dreading this weekend by & large. It was time for us to partake in “Marriage Preparation” for a full 5 hours on a gloomy Saturday. This was to be my first weekend off since December & it had to be filled with the obligatory chat with the the vicar, but wait, it’s gets better. We had to do this in front of a 20 strong crowd of other married couples to be!

So, James & I rocked up preparing us for the worst, wishing we could be elsewhere. The smiles on our faces during the introduction when they said we may be finished for 3pm (that was a lie!)

Of course we had the obligatory “how well do you know your partner” quizzes and “what do you rate to be the most important qualities” task. All very kosher stuff. However, when we all turned to page 9 we all looked a little shocked

  • To start or not to start Video Blogging? That is the question | QueenBeady

It has come to my attention that alot of people like this so called “Video Blogging” I myself have only put pen to paper (or should I say, finger to keyboard!) and have wrote the written word.

My husband to be, James has gone & bought a very fancy new laptop which has a built in web cam. So curiosity has killed the cat & I am thinking of all the wonderful techy things I can do with it & vblogging (as I have so frequently seen it referred to!) is possibly my first avenue.

With my experience of radio training I am not one to shy away from a mic but I have to say, my face in front of a camera is enough to make you run for the hills! So my question to my lovely followed & blogging friends is… Is it worth it & do you get a lot out of it. Whilst I know my blog is not the MOST established blog out there but I do hope I reach a wide audience with lots of different posts instead of pigeon holing myself down one route.

I’d love to hear your thoughts, what would you like to see/hear & how often? I’m hoping to have a play round with it next week without the beady eyes & ears of my partner, as I might get “stage fright” – I am thinking first off a nice OOTD post? I’d love to hear from you all.

Nail Art Review | Academy of Colour

Today is my day off so what better excuse than to get the nail polishes out & create pretty nails?

Just after Christmas I spent a mere £5.96 in the sale on 4 packs of 3d nail art kits. I don’t normally like to buy cheaper versions of nail polish because I like to make sure it lasts longer than few hours before it chips. But on this occasion I thought I would throw caution to the wind & buy something “fun”.

I wanted to create a very dark but glamorous look. So I decided to combine two different sets. I painted four nails black & it actually went on very well. It was easy to apply which is the main thing that makes doing my nails enjoyable. I blame my left handedness for the many mistakes I make when painting my nails! This has to be one of the nicest polishes I’ve used in a long time. On each hand I went with the 3d gold balls on the fourth finger to complete the look.

Overall I loved playing around with this kit & would not hesitate in recommending it to others!

  • Suit shopping

Today we headed into Leeds to arrange the suits for my future husband & the ushers. We’ve had a pretty clear idea of what we have wanted from the beginning (and it’s definitely a “we” rather than an “I”)

I’d seen a few blue suits of Next website when I had been looking for inspiration so that is where we headed. I was shocked that we had been in the shop for at least fifteen minutes & not one staff member came over to ask if we were ok? When we had to finally ask them for more sizes we were inconveniently told that the stock room was closed. I had always known that the suit situ was always going to be a nightmare. Luckily James brother, Tom suggested we head to a suit shop called Slaters & the moment we walked in we just KNEW that were going to be looked after. Suddenly the waves of sickness disappeared and I instantly felt like we were in safe hands. As soon as we told the tailor what we wanted, he whiz zed round the shop to pick out some suits. The first suit was perfect! He didn’t even need to get out a tape measure & he instantly knew what sizes each of the differently shaped men needed. I was already in awe. This place had got me hook, line & sinker. All suited & booted we got the two piece suits for a suave £59 each! I was absolutely DELIGHTED.

I think my best advice to any Bride to Be out there is get yourself to a proper suit shop. Not only did we save a pretty penny from shopping on the High Street (which you would think would be a lot cheaper!) we actually got a high end service which is exactly what you want during these stressful few months.

    Happy wedding planning

  • I get wed this year!

Good afternoon on this cold, blustery, winters day. Whilst the weather outside would be enough to make even the Cheshire cat’s smile turn upside down I have other reasons to be happy. I get married this year. YES! I can finally say it, I get married to the man I have loved for 7 years this coming June. It could not feel anymore invigorating knowing that all our hard work/time/money will all come to almighty crescendo in exactly 5 months today.

I’ve been pinning AVIDLY since we got engaged in October 2012, so much so I’m in overload with the amount of ”repins” and ”likes” I get every day. I have exceeded over 7K worth of pins over the last year or so. Crazy, right? In fact I’ve just checked and in less that 5 hours I have another 48 notifications. I guess my style of wedding has all centred around being colourful & have been inspired by the vintage/retro/quirky looks of the modern day wedding. Whilst it won’t be a carbon copy I’ve been able to draw some exciting ideas from the magical world of Pinterest, where everyone can share ideas and post their own fairytale weddings for the whole world to see. Check out my inspiration so far – QueenBeady on Pinterest

I’m so excited mainly because everything has been handmade with love or friends/family have got involved with making it a stress free (& friendly on the purse strings!) event! My best friends in the run up to the big day have been eBay & Pinterest (have I mentioned I LOVE Pinterest? No? Surely I’ve told you already?) I have managed to bag 6 unique bridesmaid dresses and also my little flower girls dress too! Our house is slowly turning in to what can only be described as a ”hoarding hole” – we have been collecting jars of all shapes and sizes and we are slowly running out of space to store them. In fact, instead of writing this I should probably be boxing them up to store in the back bedroom (yeah right?) The jars will be the centre pieces for the table with beautiful garden flowers (James’ Aunty is going to help with this as she is an avid gardener!) to array them with & also vanilla scented tea lights. Everything is about looking like it’s just rolled up and hasn’t been forced? So many weddings these days are all about ”perfection” and to be quite frank, nothing is perfect so why make it that way? We are all about just sharing our love with the people we love dearly, nothing more, nothing less.

That brings me on to Rock & Roll Bride which I’ve read a few times but was drawn in to reading it again as one of my favourite bloggers BriarRoseBlog – Megan McMinnhas just had her & her now husbands wedding featured. It was magical and the photos are truly magnificent, they capture the day so wonderfully. Everything was decided by them and obviously let no rules or limitations get in their way & it turned out pretty swell by the looks of things. I love Rock & Roll Bride for the simple fact it does not succumb the social theorem of ”how a wedding should be” You should never told how to express your love for the simple fact no-one else knows. Only you & your significant other totally understand the inner depths of one another. So to hell with social convention, I think I might get piñata & ride a donkey into my wedding (am I brave enough to do that? Nah, I don’t think so!) but trust me everything on our special day will be relevant to just James & I! How unperfectly perfect is that?

Over the coming months I’ll be blogging a lot more about the plans for our wedding, in fact, I’ll probably bore you, so I kindly allow my readers to switch off….. NOW!
