    the other duckling memory frame

If there is one thing that makes me super happy, it’s reminiscing back to six months ago on our very special wedding day. I’ve rambled from start to finish & then some more about our imperfectly perfect day back in June 2014. I’m terrible, but I still haven’t had my dress boxed & dry cleaned which is at the top of my to-do list this year. I want to cherish that dress with my life. It holds so many magical moments in the delicate lace. I had a vision that I would also dry my flowers, or at least some of the gypsophila (baby’s breath to you & I!) to hang in a beautiful, vintage style frame. I knew exactly what I wanted. So when I browsed The Other Duckling I found the most perfect thing. After watching one of Zoella’s old youtube videos a while back she had something similar that I just knew I had to have. This gorgeous Memory Frame retails at £12.95 & it really is perfect for framing my dried gypsophila. In an amongst the website there were some beautiful vintage pieces that were perfect for any home finishing touches! I’m creating something of a montage on our living room wall which, when I have my fabulous Thomas Kent Wall Clock & a commissioned Amsterdam piece from Sian Lewis Original City Artwork all framed & amongst other bits and pieces I will be sure to share it with you. I’m all about making our home a home now the wedding is over & I could not be more excited!

I know for a fact when you read that title you most certainly did sing it & do not try and deny it one little bit. With Christmas been & gone at the speed of light we woke up on Boxing Day with a twinkle of snow (well, the rest of England did bar West & North Yorkshire!) so inevitably it was time to wrap up warm for the many colder days we have been promised by the ever delightful weathermen!

I have lusted over my bobble hat & pale blue duster coat for many months but just never found myself buying either for one reason another but after heading to a local Tesco’s with my Mama we found ourselves scouring the Sale Rails before Christmas had already been. I noticed that the F&F coat was half price & we managed to pick it up at a bargain price of £25. Mama of course, took this home and wrapped it up for Santa to bring to me on Christmas morning.

As the Winter months have set in, my body temperature has certainly taken a dip so I have found myself topping up on those big fluffy jumpers, you know, the ones that make you look like a Yeti/Polar Bear/Grizzly Bear! No-one can deny though that they are super cosy & somehow manage to look good. They are perfect for teaming with any pair of jeans, chinos, skirts and more. It’s all about layering.

Did you manage to pick up any treats in this years sales? I have been very naughty & purchased a few bits here and there, I can’t wait to share them with you.

Jacket Zara | Top Topshop | Jeans Topshop | Shoes New Look

No, I’m not really suited & booted as such. But, I find that adding a simple structured jacket to an outfit can seriously set you apart in the style stakes. I probably sound very ”conservative” (whom, I would like to add I have no loyalties to!) when I say this, yes you can give a woman a pair of shoes & she will conquer the world as someone quite famous said, however, if you give a woman a structured jacket she will dominate.

It was love at first sight when this Zara jacket arrived on my doorstep with all it’s tags on & packaged up, barely touched & not even sniffed at. It was another one of my fabulous bargains that I had swiped on eBay for a menial sum of money for such a good quality piece of clothing. I seem to be getting very good at that!

I don’t always want to look too dressy but I want to be seen to making an effort, it’s just the way I’m engineered. So, I paired it with my Topshop Peter Pan collared short sleeve cotton shirt & a pair of Topshop Leigh Jeans (very forgiving!). There is something about an outfit like this that is so multifunctional for a number of events, from a day trip shopping with friends or even a meeting with work. I like outfits that can serve a multitude of purposes & this does just that.

Have you got a go-to outfit that never fails you?

    Resolutions

    ”I’m too cold.”

    ”My head hurts.”

”God, this house is such a mess.”

I probably utter these words a thousand times a day. I’m a complainer. I have to face facts & accept it. Or should I? I’m never one for making New Years resolutions, simply because I know that I will break them. I’m not much of a rule breaker. I’m terribly boring. But I saw a little anecdote on Pinterest about complaining. It said, ”Go a full 24 hours without complaining and you’ll be amazed at how your life will improve.” I sighed when I read it because I knew this was me. I need to have a complaining ban. I need to be more positive. So no, I won’t just accept it, I’m going to make myself a better person by being more positive. When my head hurts I will go take a paracetomol and ride it out & no-one will ever know. When it’s cold I will put a heater on & warm myself up, no-one will ever know. When the house is a mess, I will get up (off my fat arse! That’s another NY resolution that needs work!) and do a bit of tidying, no-one will ever know I’m miffed.

You see a theme here? It’s all about doing & making those positive, tiny steps to get you out of that ”Negative Nelly” rut. I’ve gone in to 2015 knowing we had a fabulous year and it’s very hard to beat a year where you married the love of your life/soulmate but why can’t 2015 be even better.

This year is all about creating memories, being whimsical and spontaneous. Laughing till my sides hurts, sharing amazing days outs & travelling the world with the man I love. It’s all terribly soppy but I feel I’ve been terribly guarded this last year or so. It’s time to start living & enjoying the now.

I hope wherever you were saying goodbye to 2014 you were happy & that is all that will ever matter.

Christmas Party Dress picks | Guest Blogger Mode-Lily

First of all, hello everyone! Hope you’re having fabulous December, enjoying chai lattes, hot chocolates, Christmas markets, cosy jumpers and ridiculously cold mornings! I’m Dash, (if-I-have spare-time-on-my-hands) blogger from Leeds, you can find me over at Mode Lily, and if you fancy read my rumble about fashion, beauty (every now and then) and my (wanna-be-interesting) life go ahead and visit my blog. As Rebecca’s reader, follower and a blogging friend, I was thrilled to write for her little space in blogosphere, so I really do hope you enjoy it! I’m actually here to share with you my Christmas party dresses picks, so sit back and enjoy!

Nothing screams “party dresses” more than Christmas and yes, this party season is upon us! I have my work Christmas do in less than two weeks and as a right girly girl (ehm ehm, can I say that when I’m 30?) I’ve been picking my dress for a month now. And I love it picking the right dress and I love moaning about it as well!

The sheer amount of party dresses out there is unbelievable. So many
different colours and styles, from comfy to sexy, from elegant to rock
chic. SO, to make it easy for you, I’ve made a collage with my favourite picks and I’m going to talk about the ones I believe are the greatest standouts. Amazingly ladies, jumpsuits are still happening this season! I’m massive fan of jumpsuits as they offer great comfort for girls that would love to look trendy, classy but just don’t enjoy wearing dresses that much. The trick is making it look standout so don’t worry to go brave with accessories and I’m sure the spotlight will be yours. My second favourite pick is this she sparkly Asos dress. I know, it is for the brave but I say why not? Be a femme fatale in this sexy number and embrace the night.

    Jazz it up This Christmas

It’s alright to cover up this winter and still look chic. I felt in love with this lace fishtail maxi dress
in pink and I can see myself wearing it. It would be great to create the perfect snow princess party look. I’m also attending a winter wedding, so I can imagine I could quite easily transform this dress into a wedding outfit. Also, the flower dress by Planet and the pink embellished flapper dress would create the perfect classy Christmas party look. The blue dress by Ted Baker tells another story. It’s gorgeous, elegant, well fitted and this shade of blue, to me, represents true winter colour. You can’t go wrong with this one. If these picks are too classy for you and you only need something more party like, I would suggest a playsuit as a perfect Christmas party look. This Warehouse playsuit keeps it stylish but also it holds kind of a cool model-off-duty edge. Don’t you agree?

Hope you enjoyed our time together and if you have time, let me know which Christmas party dress idea was your favourite!
    Yours truly,
    Dash
