It’s easy to get carried away with Christmas gift giving, I know I am the worlds worst when it comes to making sure I’ve spent the same amount on everyone so I don’t feel too guilty in among all the festive cheer. I’m so lucky to have a kind, generous and loving family that enjoys gift giving and the run up to Christmas as much as I do. Sadly, not every Christmas can be perfect for some. It’s actually a time to really reflect on what matters in life, I wanted to provide an alternative Christmas gift guide to those who may be looking to help someone or a cause less fortunate this year because whilst it’s nice to have prezzies under the tree, there are so many more rewarding gifts you can give this year to someone outside of your family.

I’m sorry to be so crass in the opening title of this post, but I think it really needed to be written just so I follow through on this post. I also think I need to apologise for the amount of blog posts that start with “The Importance Of…” and then I end up going off on some sort of wild tangent, but I’ll let it slide because it makes for a good blog post. It’s just in my latter twenties (eurgh – that sounds so scary to say) I’m starting to realise so much about myself and my daily surroundings, and now that I’ve started to accept it I’ve found that my anxiety is actually starting to calm down.

My brain is now mentally taking its own “woo-saa” approach to life and it’s never been so clear that there’s a huge importance to letting shit go…

I’ve not stopped. Like literally, not stopped for the last two months or so. Every weekend has been jam-packed and many weekday evenings, too. Weekends away, gigs, parties, racing, festivals, baby showers. You name it. There has been something on the calendar that I just haven’t been able to get out of and, after running myself ragged, last week my body succumbed to the dreaded cold. And you might be screaming, “oh poor you, only a cold?!” but seriously, this one has hit me like a tonne of bricks (and the poor sods that I’ve passed it on to as well!) Never have I realised just how much I need to start re-practicing a little bit of slow living!

APPRECIATING ENGLAND: A PHOTO DIARY OF ANGLESEY

I’ve come to love the UK. After years of travelling abroad with my husband and through my job in the travel industry, it seems that the UK has ignited a passion in my soul that I didn’t think possible. With various trips through this blog on home turf it’s given me a new love for our beautiful country. Luckily, over the course of the last few years we have travelled up and down the country with my husband’s racing, with one of our stops being in Anglesey for the last couple of years. A small island of 276 square meters, it is joined with Wales from two suspension bridges, the Menai and the Britannia. It’s a place I hadn’t even thought of travelling to Anglesey, but from watching Sophie bob across with her husband to see their family from time to time, I was glad it had become a firm fixture in the race calendar.

Ah November. As we say goodbye to not only my favourite month, but my birthday month too, it’s now time to dive right in to festive mode. No sooner had our pumpkins been made in to fresh, home-made soup we had christmas adverts wiggling back on to our TV screens. Whilst I’m not opposed to all things Christmas, in fact I love it, it would be nice to get through Halloween and Bonfire night before it is thrust upon us once more. But, as the nights get darker and the days become shorter it can only mean one thing: that there are sparkly parties on the horizon, for us to get dressed up for, which surely means finding the perfect party dresses to dazzle in, right? Wrong. We can all become a little self conscious when the season of goodwill (read: mince pies!) comes round, and lets face it not everyone is big in to sparkly, low-cut dresses! So, how can we get through it? Here’s 5 ways to feel confident during party dress season! (more…)
