When mid September comes round you can normally kiss goodbye to festival season. The likes of Glastonbury, Leeds Festival and V Fest are all distant memories of this years coup of music fun. So thank God, for OnRoundhay! Leeds latest festival offers a stellar line up, food to keep everyone’s tums happy and complete with a dedicated children’s area making it a fun filled day for all the family. How cute? And because of the sudden heatwave it gave me a great opportunity to wear this fab dress from Trendeo too, the ultimate festival dress.

After my slightly mixed feelings from my 8th Leeds Festival I’ve been pining after another super fun festival that I can get my teeth in. I needn’t have looked far as Leeds latest Music & Food Festival comes in the form of OnRoundhay. The event is taking place on the 17th September which will showcase some of the best musical talent and of course a great selection of local street food traders (just like Piggie Smalls who I’ve had the pleasure to try at a previous YO1 Festival! I mean any trader that can integrate the name of my favourite Rap artist in to their business model is a winner in my eyes.) With John Lewis’ partnership along with Leeds City Council this is going  to be a great day for all the family.

Okay, so let me start off by saying that I obviously had far too much fun to properly ”pose” for these photos. Ya’ see, I don’t think it has to be so serious all the time. It’s time to smile and rejoice at the good things in life. Laugh so hard that it hurts. Run away with the moments that make you care-free. That’s kinda what this dress wants you to do. It’s playful and so easy to enjoy. Simple but with delicate crochet giving it a slightly different texture. Let’s get this straight, this dress might not be the chicest outfit in my wardrobe, but hey, who says I’m trying to be classy. It might not hug my ever growing curves (goddam you hips and thighs!) but instead this is a dress that can be enjoyed whilst dancing at a festival, on the beach with sand in your toes, to be rolled around in the grass in. Endless possibilities that make the most charming memories. That’s the type of dress that I like & want to wear.

Making daisy chains, sitting in circles singing music round a camp fire and having a wonderful time is exactly how I used to envisage Festivals before I started going to them. I’ve been going to Festivals since 2008, so some could say I’m an ”old timer” when it comes to being prepared for festival season. It’s a great time, filled with making lots of memories and enjoying some of the best music the world has to offer. By no means am I trying to detract from the wonderful atmosphere that Festivals have to offer you really do have to keep your wits about you in so many ways. I keep getting told that I’m too old to go to Leeds Festival (yikes, I’m only 25. I’m not sure if they are basically saying my life is over or not?) but I am determined I’m gonna keep going for years to come.

I’m not sure if you’ve noticed but recently I have done away with my tripod. No longer am I taking photos by myself before I head out, all alone, trying to ”werk it” with no encouragement. It sounds stupid but it’s damn hard to try and work it when you have absolutely no clue what it looks like on the other side. A couple of weeks ago I took the plunge. I asked my sister to do my blog photos for me. Little did I know just how much easier it would begin to be, with someone being able to tell you what you look like, what’s working and what’s not is not only making my photos a damn sight better, it’s actually bolstering my confidence in bucket loads.
