Festivals are synonymous with the experience that is, camping. Come rain or shine, you will find me putting up a tent, with a cider in hand, loving life. But, my years are creeping up on me and my back plays havoc with me, so sleeping on the floor for a few nights at a time is not ideal. When I was invited to Tramlines Festival with Festicket I wasn’t sure my back could handle it anymore. Thank the lord for Travelodge Sheffield Central answering all my vertebrae-pained prayers!
Travelodge kindly came to the rescue with an overnight stay at one of their establishments in Sheffield Centre for the inner music festival, Tramlines. I’ve long been a fan of Travelodge having stayed at a few of their hotel and simply because it does what it says on the tin. It’s cheep and it’s cheerful, but there’s the added bonus of the Business rooms. With rooms on the top floor, it gives you a much quieter experience along with king sized, sleepeze beds means getting to sleep is much easier. Okay, so it isn’t the Ritz so don’t expect a turndown service with chocolates on your pillow but what it lacks in luxury, it packs a punch with stress-free travel!
After a quick and easy check in, we hopped up the sixth floor and got acquainted with our rather large room (I could have swung a cow in it, let alone a cat!) with a huge bed, a flat screen TV (great for those post-beer goggle boxing of Family Guy!) and tea and coffee facilities, there’s not much more you could ask for. Even the view that was offered out of our window was a great mixture between the old and new architectures of the city. Such a joy!
Being ten minutes away from the centre of Sheffield it meant we could grab a bite to eat before heading across to Ponderosa to watch The Libertines, which was about a twenty-minute walk away too. It was perfectly located for everything, that we could walk everywhere. Except for the one taxi we got when the heavens decided to open after a few post festival drinks.
Back home, a bit wet from the pouring rain outside, we jumped in the very powerful shower, hopped in to bed to get our dose of Family Guy (I did say that TV would come in handy!) and finally fell asleep after an evening of great fun and music.
I woke up pretty early, I think when I sleep somewhere else and I’m in slightly unfamiliar surroundings but that doesn’t mean I didn’t have a good night’s sleep because I felt really refreshed, but I was so, so, sooooo ready for our all you can eat brekkie! After a quick shower, outfit change – I was ready to tuck in to my full english. With bacon, sausages, beans, hash browns, fried tomatoes, scrambled egg and beans on offer, I would have loved to have seen some fried or poached eggs on offer but I made up for it with an extra slice of bacon. There was also cereals, fruit and croissants available if you didn’t want anything too heavy but I thought it best to stock up after a slightly, heavier than normal evening! With fresh orange juice on tap I definitely felt a lot better for it.
We could check out at 12pm (which is later than most hotels) so we went back up to the room, packed up our stuff, checked out and headed to the car park (the Q Parks next door is available for £8.50 for 24 hours if you were staying at the Travelodge Hotel. What a bargain for city centre parking?
We had an awesome, comfortable stay at the Travelodge Sheffield Central and would highly recommend it if you are looking for a budget hotel that has a great location, close to the action. With prices for Travelodge’s starting from £29 in their summer sale there’s every reason to take the family away in the UK this year!
