A SUNDAY GOOD FOR THE SOUL* | QUEENBEADY

Views for days, rolling hills and babbling brooks. It’s easy to picture, right? Luckily for us this is all on our doorstep at Mr C’s parent’s farm just up the road from our own humble abode. Most weekend’s tend to be spent playing with kittens, running around after chickens and walking our dog alongside the beck that runs through the farm estate. Could there be any dreamier day? So what really constitutes a perfect Sunday? After all, a weekend well spent, brings a week of content…

Mornings normally start quite lazily, I’ll bring a pot of tea up to bed for Mr C & I to sip on. I can’t function without my morning brew. Some people like to start the day by reading the papers, but I’d be lying if I said I was as sophisticated as this, so instead the obligatory social media check up has to happen before any day can really start (don’t pretend you don’t know what I’m talking about?!)

We’ve become accustomed to getting our shopping delivered on a Sunday morning too. I can’t tell you what a lifesaver this has been recently. With so much going on, it really takes the pressure off, (and with a weekly shopping pass it would be rude not to.) I’m heading off on holiday next month, so plenty of fruit and veg usually comes in bucket loads.

After showering, we head off down to the farm and set off exploring the woods, sometimes taking the scenic route past the river wharfe, but I’m most content when we get to go down to the beck. A winding ebb of flowing water winds it’s way through the fields and through the farm yard and somehow I feel so peaceful here. Being outdoors is something I adore and the more time I spend outside with nature, the more “zen” I feel!

Coffee is always something that sneaks it’s way in to our picnic basket, (but good coffee of course) and Lyon’s Coffee Bags* are that little simple pleasure in life. We head off on so many walking adventures it makes having a cup of coffee a lot easier and I’m all for a little shortcut every once in a while. Rich in flavour, even though it’s “instant,” it definitely hits a spot when we rest our weary bones by the waterside. It certainly gives us a boost for our last leg of the walk.

And, whilst we sip coffee, Skye will hurtle in and out of the beck. Sipping water and cooling off. She loves it. Although, I don’t love it when she has a good shake and water goes flying everywhere.

We usually pop in to the in-laws, play with the kittens and the newly born sheep dog puppies (FYI, ADORABLE!) so it’s safe to say my soul is epically soothed after that. The perfect insta-story opportunities are ripe!

Our weekends usually end with us cooking a steak dinner together (& one glass of red wine if I’m feeling fruity!) – we’ve found the perfect way to cook it too. We remove the steaks from the fridge about an hour before want to cook them so they reach room temperature, we sprinkle each side with ground peppercorns and sea salt, and a dash of garlic and pan fry it for about ten minutes. It’s better than any steak we’ve ever had in a UK restaurant.

After that we sit down to catch up on our favourite box set to keep the Monday morning blues at bay. At the moment, it’s old re-runs of League of Gentleman keeping us laughing in to the late evening. And eventually, we will fall asleep after a Sunday well spent.

How do you spend your Sundays?

A Sunday well spent brings a week of content as the saying goes! Mine was a little more hectic but still really enjoyable – we were invited to have a meal at the new Pizza Express in Newquay – not my favourite area of Cornwall but the sun shone and it was lovely having a day date together (even if I was busy taking photos!!) Then I made a tester cake for my friend’s 30th next weekend, a lemon drizzle to thank the neighbours and got on with a few chores that we’d neglected over the weekend! Alice xxx

      AMEN TO THAT SISTER!

That sounds divine because I blumming love pizza! Newquay was our first holiday together (with Mr C) and have fond memories of the place.

How did the cake turn out?

The lemon drizzle for the neighbours seemed to go down well (as they ate it there and then!) and then Sally’s 30th cake was immense! Not only did it feed 40 people but it also looked pretty cool 😀 xxx

That sounds like a wonderful way to spend the weekend! A perfect Sunday, to me, is time spent together doing something you both enjoy. Whether it’s walking in the woods, curling up with a film or box set, or anything else. Time spent together on the weekends is what is most important to me! x http://www.aimeeraindropwrites.co.uk x

Preach it Aimee! As long as you are both content with what you are doing then that’s the best concoction for a perfect Sunday!

This sounds like the perfect Sunday! I love spending Sundays with family and often we go for a walk in the Lakes which is always so nice (even if it’s pouring down!)

This sounds like a dreamy Sunday! In all honesty I’ve been rubbish recently for using Sunday as just another day to rush around like a maniac trying to get stuff done but my absolute favourite Sunday activity has always been a long walk in the Norfolk countryside. And all the carbs.

HAHA! I have tried to swap it round where I do my crazy, manic days on the Saturday so I can try and relax a little more on the Sunday.

Carbs = THE BEST! (But I try and walk it off because god, I bloat!)

This sounds like the nicest, most relaxing Sunday and I love these views that you’ve got so close to home – it looks like the ideal hideaway for a relaxing weekend! I always find the more time outdoors I can get the better I feel too and stopping by the in-laws to see cute sheepdog puppies sounds even better! My ideal Sunday would be very similar, some time outdoors, time with the family, good food and something fun to watch before the week starts again. Lovely photos. – Tasha

We are very lucky that it’s on our doorstep to be honest, we don’t take it for granted that’s for sure!

Thank you so much and your perfect sunday sounds dreamy too!

I love walking over the weekend, and if it incorporates a coffee shop stop, all the better! Love the photos here, Bee! x

Oh Bee, this sounds so amazing. 🙂 And your pictures are lovely. 🙂
It;s a real blessing to live so rural and have so much to explore. We haven’t been on a good walk for a while, but will definitely be adding it into our Summer holiday schedule.. with a picnic. 🙂
