STYLE YOUR HOUSE ON A BUDGET* | QUEENBEADY

I often look at my house, and as much as I love it, I get pretty frustrated with it. We live in a reasonable 2 up/2 down with a sizeable garden which we are forever grateful for. But for the most part, I feel like we haven’t really made it a “home” in all the of the 7 years of being there. Often, I prefer to spend money on meals out and going on holidays. Which is when I came to the realisation that I spend money on doing things that don’t involve staying in our house and that really needs to change.

Yes, over the years we have bought some gorgeous sofa’s and lovely furniture to decorate but because the house is so small the gorgeous things we have bought for the house become obsolete as paperwork starts getting piled up on them and they become a little bit worn.

Throw in a kitchen renovation, dust everywhere and unfinished walls and cornices, it’s been so easy to fall out of love with where we live! I’ve been wondering what I can do to spruce up home a bit to start making it more “homely” for our little 2 person plus dog family, so we can start falling back in love with it once more.

It doesn’t have to be a huge, bold statement. From adding a couple of cute scented candles around the house (boy am I in love with this coconut one from Poundstretcher – plus it’s only £1!) to add a fresh scent and a more cosy appeal to the indoors. And, I’m a huge candle fiend so these little mason jar candle’s suited me right down to the ground. Or this tall candle holder with a couple of tea lights in, it definitely give off those “hygge” vibes we all crave!

Add fresh flowers to spruce things up too. They’ll smell divine and completely brighten up the room – make sure you have a gorgeous clear vase and keep refreshing the water to keep them fresh all week long!

Chalkboards are another cute little décor piece for the home but also serve as a handy way to remember things and remind everyone else what you’re up to that week or even right down to your meal planning timetable.

And finally, when you’re keeping your guests entertained a pair of cool mason jars never go out of style, sip cocktails the old fashioned way. This copper mason jar is every bloggers dream & at 69p per jar you can afford to go wild. (And let’s face it if you do smash one or two, you can re-stock up on them without breaking the bank.)

These are just a few of the small, little changes we have started to make around the house and we will continue to do so, and it’s definitely helped that Poundstretcher have some really affordable homeware pieces to make it all possible. I even have my eye on this large drinks dispenser for a backyard party I now MUST host because of it.

Home has definitely started to become just that, a home. With all the extra, added little touches it’s personality can now shine through!

How do you spruce up your home? Where do you pick up your fave homeware pieces?

I like to look around TK Maxx and Home Sense for bargains! I also find fresh flowers make a house feel more homely.
