GETTING A GOOD NIGHTS SLEEP | QUEENBEADY

Pyjamas La Redoute | Sleeping Mask C/O La Aquarelle | Duvet Set Dunelm

If I’m sat upright on a sofa, watching TV, you can bet your bottom dollar that I will fall asleep at the most ridiculous times of day. And I can also put a huge wager on the fact that if I get in to bed to go to sleep at night, I will lay they for quite some time, tossing and turning until I manage to actually fall asleep. It’s what we call  on this day and age, “sods law.” My life pretty much consists of ironic things like this each day. LOL for me.

I really need to think about how I can make getting to sleep a little easier and so many people threw some super ideas at me over on my Instagram post. As a self confessed social media addict (sorry husband) A big pointer was to switch off from digital an hour earlier than I normally would. This means that my Instagram or twitter feed isn’t playing on my mind for the next few hours. The idea of reading a book instead definitely would compensate for this as I’m currently in the midst of trying to complete a 30 by 30 challenge (which I don’t think I’m going to be able to complete but, hell, I can try!) and I need to read 30 books by my 30th birthday which is the one that I think I can easily achieve. Have you any books to recommend?

This week I’ve been able to dose off a lot easier, that’s thanks to my gorgeous bamboo silk sleeping mask from La Aquarelle. Keeping out bright lights is a big thing for me, I have to be in total darkness to really get in the “sleeping zone” and this blocks everything out. Drifting off has never been easier with it! If you’re struggling why not get one too? I have a discount code till this coming Saturday which get’s you 10% off – use “QUEEN10LA”  so now’s the time to strike.

Drinking a hot drink like hot chocolate, camomile tea or Horlicks before bed can really soothe you, try to avoid tea and coffee for obvious reasons. I know my great Nana would without fail, every single night have a Horlicks before she went to bed and she’d sleep like a log. Getting up for her was no issue each day. Maybe I need to take a leaf out of Joan’s book!

Pillow mists/sprays are also a fantastic way of dosing off. I’m a massive fan of Neom products and they have a great pillow mist that you can spritz your pillow, simply spray it and then breathe in through your nose for 7 seconds and out through your mouth slowly for 11 seconds. It’s a great way to completely unwind and breathing techniques are a fabulous way to practice mindfulness also. Slowly slip away to sleep, and wake up bright and breezy, ready to take on the day.

Do you have any other great ways to get a good nights sleep? I’d love to hear them!

Great tips, I used to struggle with sleep but don’t so much anymore. My biggest issue is racing thoughts, and not being able to turn them off to doze off. Big fan of sleep sprays/pillow mists! Currently using an Avon Lavender and Chamomile one but I’ll have to try the Neom products next! x http://www.aimeeraindropwrites.co.uk x

I used to get that earlier this year, I read some books to keep me concentrated on trying to block it out. I’m in a good place now, plus my sleep mask is making it very easy to dose off! Ooh they sound good, I’ll have to try them out!

Babes I LOVE this post! I definitely *try to switch off from social media and looking at my phone (does’t always quite go to plan!), a nice hot bath and a camomile tea always help me to get a good night sleep, oh and pillow spray too! Also love I just read this book called 40 Acres in 2 days flat and OHMIGOD it was amazing, you have to read it! We Were On A Break is a really great, light hearted read too!

Doh, you! Thank you. I know, I’m terrible at putting my phone down, my husband is too! So were stuck in this vicious cycle which I hope one day we both break (although my hubs is completely in denial!)
I think I might just have to purchase a few books & will look out for these!
