ONROUNDHAY FESTIVAL | QUEENBEADY

When mid September comes round you can normally kiss goodbye to festival season. The likes of Glastonbury, Leeds Festival and V Fest are all distant memories of this years coup of music fun. So thank God, for OnRoundhay! Leeds latest festival offers a stellar line up, food to keep everyone’s tums happy and complete with a dedicated children’s area making it a fun filled day for all the family. How cute? And because of the sudden heatwave it gave me a great opportunity to wear this fab dress from Trendeo too, the ultimate festival dress.

OnRoundhay is set within one of Leeds biggest parks and is pretty easy to find. We rocked up about 3.30pm so the festival had been in full swing for a few hours already. The vibe was so lovely, everyone had brought picnic blankets so they could soak up the glorious sun that we had been graced with. A number of bars across the reasonably small site kept people topped up and merry. Boasting an Ale Bar and also a Gin Bar (my fave!) we settled on a beer and cider to wander around with. We took in all the attention to detail, from bunting to flower walls, big glitter ball style letters. Nothing was missing or looked out of place. The line-up was also really great, we only managed to see Wolf Alice as we had to dash off quite early but it was super that the organisers had managed to put together a very musically ear pleasing line-up of sorts – plus the sound was phenomenal!

It wasn’t just about the music though, the Festival was in partnership with John Lewis who are opening a huge store in the Victoria Quarter in Central Leeds next month (I for one, am totally excited for this.) The festival offered cookery shows & lessons that people could take part in. Sadly we didn’t get chance to have a go but I saw some other blogger friends having an absolute whale of a time after a few prosecco’s. There was also a guest area that was super cute for people to enjoy away from the hustle and bustle from the main arena area.

Leeds Indie Food had put on a fantastic array of street food vendors, one of my absolute faves “Piggie Smalls” was on hand to whet everyone’s appetites with the most delicious hot dogs that also come with he obligatory play on words, for example, the “Amy Swinehouse” – you literally could not write it! Washed down with some summer fruit ciders & an ice cold beer we were sufficiently fed and watered. Even Ox Club were on hand with an oak-smoked lamb, the queue was crazily busy which doesn’t surprise me as they’ve got quite the reputation for providing delicious food.

I feel that it is one of those magical type of festivals that everyone tries to explain with doe-eyes and a glazed expression trying to bring it to life with only words. Rumour has it that there is the potential for it to come back next year which I for one, am really happy about. Fingers crossed they get some really awesome bands again and Leeds Indie Food bring the bacon (or any other food for that matter) to make it a roaring success again. It was the perfect way to say goodbye to the summer!

This looks so much fun! I’ve still never been to a festival so I might set it as my mission next year. Even if its just so I can totally nail my festival look.
