M.I.A UPDATE | QUEENBEADY

leeds festival

Wow, so it’s nearly two weeks since I went M.I.A on this blog. I wrote a little post on whereΒ I was going & a little bit about why here. With a huge wave of Bloggers, it’s hard to get lost in a sea of sameness and I felt like I was floating in and out of that “sameness” myself. I’ve tried so hard these last few years to curate blog posts that don’t just showcase fashion but also have a good meaning behind them, too. Let truth be told a lot of it is down to the fact that I amΒ hankering after a holiday. A long one. One where it’s not just a touchdown visit for a few days or one where I’m working quite intensely with a brand whilst I’m there. It’s been nice to not think about deadlines or what my weekly stats are like, I’ve just lived these last few weeks.

In the two weeks I’ve been away I headed to Anglesey with my husband for one of his races, it was wet, blustery and tiring but it was worth it for the rugged views and great company. Sipping endless G&T’s laughing with people that I would never have met and probably wouldn’t have even engaged with if I had.

The weekend that followed was the holy grail of weekends for me, Leeds Festival. I had been gearing myself up for this one and really wanted to shut down completely for it. If I’m honest it wasn’t the best weekend I have ever had there. Despite being 26 and still feeling relatively “cool” it became so apparent that the place was heaving with 16 year olds, fresh from their GCSE results, snorting a line of Ket to either celebrate or commiserate. Whichever way you looked at it, there didn’t look to be a soul that hadn’t done something of the illegal substance variety. Sadly, I witnessed the 17 year old that od’ing who passed away in the early hours of Sunday morning. A sight I’ll never forget. Despite all of this, there were a few bands, in amongst one of the shittiest line ups I have ever seen, that I wanted to watch. Blossoms (one of my personal faves!), Slaves (tremendous, just like last year!), Fickle Friends (Hello, I converse with them over social now, so does that make me cool?), Foals (Yannis, I love you.) and Disclosure (Y U NOT PLAY MAGNETS BBZ?). Finally Red Hot Chilli Peppers, the one singular and that could headline a full set (Festival Republic, please sort this “co-headlining” shit out. It sucks.) I was really looking forward to, plenty of bangers to get down to. I’m not sure where to start really, whilst it was a good set and plenty of classics played something felt “off.” I can’t explain it, Anthony Keidis just let me down as the front man, he heavily relied on Flea for the hype and it just sucked. I’m praying that next year, after all the bad press of how bands were treated and the general lack of security they come back in 2017 looking better, because if it wasn’t on our doorstep / cheap tickets I would not be wasting my money again.

I’ve also missed something vital out. I’ve had a little refresh over here on the blog. Nothing too f-f-fancy but something different that might just kick start me up the bum to fall back in love with blogging again. Things were feeling a little stale around here. Thanks to the lovely Kotryna BassΒ I’m feeling a lot more positive here on the blog.

September see’s me working on some amazing projects which I can’t wait to share with you. I’m back on it and hopefully will be back to share more, so thank you for sticking around whilst I’ve been a little bit M.I.A of late.

I’m really glad to see that you’re coming back to blogging. I know I speak for all your readers when I say; we missed you! It’s so sad you had to witness that incident at Leeds Fest – I heard about it on the news the next day. Tragic πŸ™ And that you didn’t have such a good time – I know you were so excited to go. Onwards and upwards though! Looking forward to more of your posts now you’re back πŸ™‚ x http://www.aimeeraindropwrites.co.uk x

Oh Aimee, why are you so cute? I’m so sorry for the delayed reply. Disqus would not let me log in at all.
It was not a nice sight to see, we genuinely thought they’d managed to get his heart going again, but sadly, it just wasn’t meant to be. Moral of the story (which I don’t think many people will listen to):DON’T DO DRUGS KIDS.

I’ve been a bit busy myself, what with getting married, but I have missed your posts in my Bloglovin feed too!
Anglesey sounds great – we go a lot and I love it there. So beautiful and restful, esp as I have no reception anywhere on the island it seems!
Shame Leeds was a bit of a let-down. I think if you go to the same one too many years in a row, it can always suffer from comparison (except maybe Glastonbury – I don’t think I could ever tire of that), but it does sound like this year was a bit of a blip. Maybe next year will be better – I am quite tempted to try and get tickets and introduce the husband to a proper festival! πŸ˜€ xx

I KNOW! I can’t quite believe it, you looked absolutely B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L! Was it just the most magical day? Tell me EVERYTHING!
Anglesey was lovely, shame about the weather but I’d love to go back and explore it a little more.
Yes, Leeds wasn’t the best, however we did make it good ourselves. It just seems like it’s kids running around absolutely wired off their tits and the music was okay, some bands I was really excited to see but Haim pulled out so I was devastated! I’m hoping we can do Glasto one day!

I’m on a blog break too and it’s kinda nice, it gets too much sometimes. Sorry Leeds was a let down, hopefully next year it will be better. Love the new blog look too!

      Hi Jasmin,
In a way it’s comforting to know it’s not just me that’s a little burnt out! Leeds was good, we made the best of it, it just doesn’t quite feel the same as it used to. It’s just kids running around off their tits now. Such a shame.

YOU ARE NOT OLD! It’s crazy how we deem ourselves old in our early / mid twenties. The kids do make me feel ancient though, ha! It was exactly what I needed. I’m trying not to put too much pressure on myself now.
