Home styling can play a big part in making a house a home. Little added touches that shout out that your home is lived in. The character in which the home it has and the personalities that live within it become more exposed from all the little bits you delicately place around the home. I’m excited to let you have a sneak peak in to my favourite room of the house, our living room.
The House Network (The online estate agent) sent me a gift package with lots of things to use around the home to create a little bit of “home staging.” Our house is only pokey, a 2 up-2 down kinda set up so space is limited for us. Storage is also something less to be desired so what we have in our home has to be condensed. I generally place candles around the home to make it much warmer and more inviting, plus scented candles are my absolute favourite. This Subtle Whispers candle is currently being burnt and it smells like fresh cotton. A really crisp scent that makes the house smell so clean. It burns quite slowly too which means I get to smell it a lot longer than most usual candles, plus the glass jar is so cute and very reminiscent of the Yankee Candles.
Another way to spruce up the home is flowers. I’m a sucker for a fresh bunch of flowers but it always saddens me when they die off after a week or so. Whilst it’s great to get the real thing sometimes fake flowers can just be as good, grab a cute little round vase and place them in it, a stress-free way of making your home look much more loved. Plus there’s less chance of killing them!
Coffee table books are a little weakness of mine. Hey, who doesn’t love ’em. They serve two purposes. 1) Something to read and find yourself getting lost in and 2) They look hella good (and kinda make me look a little bit more artistic/clever) This Lost In Translation book has to be one of the most beautifully illustrated books that I have ever laid my eyes on. With fun & quirky sayings from all over the globe I know they will come in handy when I head to Oslo in May! Did someone say “palegg” translation: anything and everything that you can put on bread. HEAVEN!
I adore my picture wall. Our room has charcoal and hessian colour running through it, it’s a cross between scandi-countryesque style. With my husbands parents farmers it would be silly not to have a nod to them with all our oak furniture and flooring, but I also love the minimalistic vibes of the scandic style that is gracing my pinterest boards at the moment. It’s great that these two style can completely merge in to one another and not look out of place! I love our pen drawing of the Amsterdam canals that Sian Lewis at Original City Artwork (an old school friend) commissioned for us a couple of christmas’ ago.
