A Minimalist Dream | QueenBeady

When I look at accounts like Shot from the Street and Me & Orla on Instagram, I sigh. I sigh because they just do “minimalism” so well, and well I, I don’t do it all that good. Every now & then I have a breakthrough though, a garment that I firmly place in my wardrobe which I look at and think “yes, you are the one that I’m going to be able to wear all the time & you will never ever let me down now, will you?” and then I stroke it gently for being so good. And, it’s so great because generally do stay in my life – A turtleneck is for life, not just for Christmas. Then I look to my left and then there’s a pile of well, shit.

I don’t want my wardrobe to be dull and boring, that’s not it at all, I just want a little bit of uniformity to it, that I know when I open the doors I will be able to pick out an outfit without having a paddy, complaining that “I have nothing to wear!” (cue stomping feet, pet lip and crocodile tears every time I go somewhere, it’s tiring ya’ know.) So I have picked out a few pieces that will set you on your way to the perfect minimalist dream wardrobe!

For me, a smart outfit can be made pretty street chic by adding a leather or mock-croc rucksack and some killer Nikes. Both of which I own and somehow when I wear these I suddenly feel “cool” and not quite my ripe twenty six years of age. I am down with the kids & all that? I realise how depressing I sound.

Girl cannot go out the house without a classic watch and this silver link bracelet is just that. Bitch, I need to tell the time & I need to prove I can do that without having to look at my iPhone. I have some brain cells left. Everyone knows my fascination with turtlenecks, they made a massive comeback this AW15/16 and to be honest I don’t know what I did with my life before them. All hail the turtleneck. Pair them with a cute pair of ankle grazers and you are going to look mighty on trend.

Accessories, accessories, accessories. They can either send an outfit to all mother of heights and they can also bring them crashing down, so make sure when adding them to any outfit you choose carefully and don’t over do it. I thought a simple leather belt and pair of cat eye sunglasses are the perfect touch. Ps. don’t you just love the marble purse I found. Thank me later!

How would you create the perfect minimalist outfit? For me it’s classic cuts and not overdoing it, but don’t forget to layer up in the winter. I’d love to hear how you would convey it in the comments below.

    *bows* all hail the turtleneck!!

All of this is so perfect. For me, a minimalist outfit would be keeping the pieces simple in regards to the colour, probably to a minimum of two colours for the clothes, shoes etc…and also not TOO over the top. Simple, but unique in how it’s styled. (I don’t even know if that makes any sense but there you go!)

I completely agree Meg! It so totally does make sense. Minimalism really does mean taking it back to basics and keeping it streamlined!

A minimalist look goes a long way and can easily transform your outfit from day to night by simply throwing on a pair of court heel shoes or sandal heel shoes. love this this

Hell to the yeah for this post! The first few paragraphs basically just described me having a paddy every morning because I wish I was minimalistic, but I’m 100% not…and I still have nothing to wear. Oh and I fully support your love of the turtle-neck. May that love never die, girl! You’ve definitely inspired me to have another attempt at clearing out my wardrobe and being minimal (for the 81694th time!)

Hahahaha Tasmin, it’s my life everyday too! I just wish I had the money to just chuck all my wardrobe out & start again. Good luck with the clear out, I think I need to do the same too!
