DIY Beauty with #MiraMessMakers | QueenBeady

MIRA MESS MAKERS

I love a challenge. I love a challenge that you can get your hands dirty with, too. Upon hearing that I wasn’t one to turn a challenge down, the lovely guys at Mira Showers asked me to create my own DIY beauty product with #MiraMessMakers from the comfort of my own home. Armed with an ingredient list, I headed to my local Sainsbury’s to collect everything that I would need. The great thing about this task was that all you had to do was add tap water to basic household items to create my very own beauty product, so very simple.

Normally when I do invest in skin care it tends to be middle-range, something that I know I will get a lot of use from but will happily pay a little more to make sure I am getting the great quality my skin deserves too. So when I was tasked with #MiraMessMakers at first I was a little sceptical of how household ingredients could all be put together to make something for your skin.

I decided to make the face scrub. I love a good facial or a face mask so thought this was the perfect opportunity to try my hand at something a little different. All you need to make this scrub is a handful of porridge oats, lemon juice, honey & cinnamon (oh and don’t forget the tap water too!) You basically throw it all in to a bowl and give it a good stir. There is nothing to it, except a little bit of mess which was to be expected. You can add your own little bits such as vanilla or natural yoghurt to give it a real creamy effect too but I stuck closely to the guidelines.

My skins not been amazing as of late (until I started using Temple Spa Self Defence Cream) but that’s because my diet hasn’t been all that great, so anything I can use on my skin to make it a little better is a winner for me. Once I’d stirred the ingredients together it was time to apply to my face. I’d recommend leaving it on for around ten minutes (as you would with a face mask) afterwards remove with water and a towel. It was quite interesting to feel my skin afterwards as it did feel really smooth. The main aim is also to remove black heads, whilst I don’t suffer from spots, it seemed to reduce the spots that have been slowly trying to peep through my skin recently.

I was so happy with how it turned out & I’ll definitely be creating my own DIY Beauty again that’s for sure. I’d love to hear from you if you decided to make this at home too or if you created any other variations of the recipe!

Ooh I think I might have to try this out 🙂 I usually use Lush products on my skin but this will be a good one for when I run out and don’t fancy forking out some cash 🙂
