Ribbed Turtlenecks & Mom Jeans | QueenBeady

I have a real thing for turtlenecks at the moment. I probably shouldn’t, especially as my bosoms were just not made for this style of top but they are so cosy for Autumn. And paired with the right thing or worn in a certain way they don’t have to look bad. I’ve been stalking ASOS for days on end recently. Their sale is out of this world that I have spent many hours on a night deciding what I must have. As soon as I saw this rust coloured, ribbed, striped (of course!) turtleneck I just knew it had to be mine (and possibly a few other things too.) ASOS close up ribbed striped turtle neck

On Sunday morning I read an article about how you can make your outfits go from boring frump to ”a- game sass queen” with a few short & simple tips to help you get there. I have wide hips, I don’t shy away from that (I just hope they do come in useful for when they do serve their purpose in life) so I always find myself wearing my jeans so far up my short torso (which is equally a curse!) so much so that my boobs are resting on my belt. It’s not a good look & I have fast learnt this. So when I read tip number 4 (or was it 5?) that you should wear your jeans on your hips, by doing this you look so much more of a fierce ”Boss Lady” than you’ll ever know was possible. So that’s what I did, I didn’t go all Simon Cowell this time and instead embraced my jeans hanging on (not off!) my hips. The result, I am quite happy with. I think part and parcel of the looking coming together was from wearing my Mom jeans which helped finish the look off perfectly.

I love a loose fit and think they can really flatter you – comfort in style in the same sentence can be hard to come by. I call bullshit on those editorial pieces that say as soon as you invest in a pair of Mom jeans you have given up on life. I’d probably give them a huge scare if they saw how much I wear my Birkenstocks with them too. I think they’d go in to a state of shock. I take style advice with a pinch of salt. What works for one, might not work for another – even if you do have similar body shapes. I’m nearly twenty-six and I’m learning more and more about what works for my body shape each day.

I whinge & moan constantly that there aren’t many shops that cater for the curvier ends of size 10 – size 16, whilst it’s not classed as plus size some clothes from certain high street shops just do not indulge for us. My biggest pet hate being crop tops, they don’t even seem to budge through the winter months. I don’t know about you, but with English winters I’d rather not have my midriff on show (oh goodness, do I sound like my mother?) I just want a normal length top, you know one that needs to be warm and practical.

I dusted off my leopard print loafers from New Look. They’ve given my feet some grief when wearing them but they are just so cute that I decided that because I was only popping out to see some family that it didn’t really matter as they’d be coming straight off again as soon as I got there. I’m sure you would agree that they are pretty neat. They sold out very quickly when I bought them but I did notice a similar pair on ASOS when I was doing my midnight stalk of the site recently.

I think this outfit goes to show that you can wear whatever the heck you want, I mean they also say you shouldn’t wear horizontal stripes but I’m doing that too. What style tips have you taken on board and never looked back? Are there certain styles you steer away from? I’d love to know as I love getting hints & tips to make outfits look better!

I’m guilty of over thinking fashion, some editorials say that slimmer people mustn’t wear boyfriend in the fear of making your legs look like twigs BUT boyfriend jeans are comfy and still look good so that’s one thing I’ll be ignoring 😉 I really love the look of Mom jeans on you, they suit your amazing figure- and that turtle neck? Love the colours!
