Okay, so you like beauty & you buy all the products in the sun to feel good. But what if I told you that something so simple could make you feel a million dollars without having to put a slap of expensive foundation on? For me I’ve never really been in to beauty, queue the rolling eyes at the fact that I’m doing a beauty post, but hear me out. I’m very lucky, I have pretty alright skin. I’m freckly but I can work with that – it makes me a little unique and I’m proud of my ”angel kisses” as they are often referred to, but hey a girl needs a little pick me up every once in while. Am I right? My beauty regime consists of getting my lashes done. That’s it. I get them done by Beth at The Works, Tadcaster who uses Lash Perfect to create the perfect set.
There’s nothing I enjoy more than a little pamper, oh and closing my eyes and switching off for two hours which is exactly what I can do when I’m getting my lashes done. Beth’s little beauty room at The Works, Tadcaster is set overlooking the River Wharfe and lies within the most adorable limestone cottage style building. It’s cosy and quaint but it welcomes new and old clients and it’s easy to see why. Beth is one of my best friends, so of course she’s my first pit stop for anything beauty realted, but you don’t have to be her BFF to feel like you’ve known her for ages. She makes sure she talks you through every step of the way putting you at ease & she’s amazing at making you feel calm, often offering funny anecdotes of when she did the exact same thing but probably ten times worse. She’s a people person and no matter who walks through the door you’ll instantly vibe off that.
Beth studied at the Yorkshire College of Beauty and whilst she has spent the last few years working in management for a fashion retail store her heart was set on going back to beauty, what started out as being in her bedroom has taken her to a fully fledged beauty room in a thriving beauticians. It is so great to see her flourishing in an environment she so clearly loves and enjoys.
Lash perfect is the application of separate eyelash extensions to create a more natural, fuller set of lashes. Every lash technician has to go through a strict set of training to be accredited by Lash Perfect too, this is great to know that you are in more than capable hands! The process can take up to three hours depending on how your own lashes react to the new ones being put on. These are semi permanent and can last anywhere between two weeks or more. I had mine put on a week before I headed to Mexico, which was over a month ago & whilst the full set hasn’t stayed on I still have a significant amount left which still gives me a wide-eyed look without having to put on any mascara each morning.
The process starts with sperating your lower and upper lids so your lashes don’t get stuck together, Beth then starts the task of applying individual lashes depending on length to create a nice layered look. Once finished the plaster is peeled back and any sneaky lashes will be separated. To keep on top of your lashes you will be given a little wand (like a mascara wand) to brush the lashes each morning so they stay in perfect shape. I’m always so pleased with the end result, Beth knows exactly what I like and that’s the au natural look so she never does them too heavy! You can discuss all your requirements with her before she sets to work.
If you’d like to book in with Beth a full set of lashes is £45; which is very reasonable. Some beauticians charge up to a whopping £90 & the great thing is Beth is currently offering a £5 discount if you quote ”QueenBeady” when booking. If you like to top up, depending on how long between each appointment, top ups start from £25 meaning you can come and go as you please with very minimal effort. So if you are in the York, Wetherby or Leeds area it’s definitely worth travelling here to get them done.
