Valladolid, Mexico | QueenBeady

Valladolid Street

I’m not going to lie to you, this post isn’t going to be filled with many words, it’s mainly about the beautiful street scenes I managed to capture whilst we stopped for a whistle stop tour of Valladolid, Mexico, after visiting the fascinating Chichen Itza and the Hubiku Cenote (click the links to read more!). It was a chance for us to have a stretch during our three hour trip back to the hotel and just enough time to get ourselves a coconut ice cream from one of the cutest ice cream bicycles from the town square. It was great to finally see a fully functional, working town in Mexico.

Valladolid Church

The most impressive sight was the Church which loomed over the 2 story buildings that lined the street. It was pretty spectacular and rather beautiful. It had been Mexico Independence Day and the buildings were strewn with Mexican flags from the morning’s festivities. I can only imagine how exciting and colourful it would have been to see everyone celebrate this special day. Sadly, the church was closed during the afternoon siesta which was a shame but I am not quite sure we would have had time to explore.

The pretty little bicycle carts that assembled in the tree-lined square of Valladolid were so pretty. I can see why people head here in the early afternoon sun to treat themselves to a fresh ice cream because it’s so hot & it’s one of the cutest little town squares I have ever seen. Everything just seemed so authentic and so real, which was nice as most places we went to were filled with tourists around every corner – it was nice to just mingle with the locals as they went about their daily business.

As we drove away after the very short thirty minutes we were there I flicked through the photos I had caught with my husband & I knew that I just had to do a very simple photography post with this one. Short & sweet.

Are you enjoying my Mexico posts? There’s plenty more to come!
