Summer Staycation with Think Money Group | QueenBeady

seaside staycation

There’s something so wonderful about exploring the local land. Whilst most of us dream of jetting across the waters to distant destinations, sometimes it’s quite nice to explore our own territory. Plus, where else can you get a good cup of tea other than in the UK? I was so lucky as a child to travel up and down the country with my Grandparents on holiday, my fondest memories were those spent in our static caravan in Sewerby near Bridlington though. We’d pack up the car on a Friday night after school and head up the A64 to the fresh sea air. We’d have late night fish & chips for our first supper on the promenade, with a quick walk round the amusements, pop in to the little book shop so I could pick an Enid Blyton short story book & then finish off with my favourite; a mint choc chip ice cream. It was so easy.

As I’ve got older I’ve been drawn to the countryside more so, I enjoy nothing more than heading to the Lake District. I’m not sure why, but walking and experiencing that cute, village life is always a joy. With quaint little tea shops set against a trickly beck and limestone cottages, to that fresh air that only you get in the woods or forests. I feel quite at home in these surroundings. When Think Money Group asked me about my dream bank holiday weekend away I was stopped in my tracks, because truth be told whilst I love the places I’ve just fondly remembered I actually spend my bank holiday weekend in a field, not just any field, a festival field. It’s one weekend a year where I can indulge in all the musical festivities. We sit around a small camp fire talking in to the early morning, there is something so spectacular about a UK Festival. We do them pretty damn well.

Whilst the luxury of a 5 star hotel, with a plush bed & warm, running baths sounds so very appealing, there is nowhere I would rather spend my August bank holiday. Pitching up your tent is pretty fun, with a drink in one hand and a pole in the other, the fun is endless. You see, Leeds Festival is actually on our doorstep – we are so very lucky! But of course, you need the ticket, the tent & dare I say it, the alcoholic beverages that go hand in hand with a festival. So, for my entry in the Think Money Group Staycation contest I don’t need anything fancy, I just need good sounds, good people (of course my husband) & preferably a waterproof tent over my head and I’d have my perfect bank holiday weekend sorted. It doesn’t take a lot to please me!

We went on a mini staycation to York which was great apart from the nonstop rain! I would love to visit London or Edinburgh x

I’m not from UK but I’d love to visit Edinburgh. I’ve only visited London couple of times but my dream is to have a trip across the uk and visit all the beautiful places you have there

      Hi Iida-Emilia
We are really lucky to have some beautiful places here in the UK. So many different contrasting landscapes! You must do that trip.

Funny enough I’ve just written a post all about staycations too to go up next week (not for this comp!). I holidayed in Scotland as a youngster and every year bug my hubby to go back there, but truthfully there are so many parts of the UK I want to explore x

I adore holidaying in this country and although from the age of 2 to about 13, we actually went abroad for our annual trips, these days it’s usually this country (or Disneyland Paris).
I’ve never been to a festival, it’s not really my scene, so I suppose for a weekend I’d choose Keilder. Close by and completely beautiful!

    Lovely post Bee xo

      Hey Danielle
I pretty much holidayed in the UK most of my younger years – it was only till I started working in Travel that I got the bug for going abroad, haha!

I can’t wait, Festival weekend is one of the best! So much fun 🙂

I love a good staycation, especially as my husband hates flying.
We went to Bath last year and that was so lovely and beautiful there, plus we love Cheddar Gorge! This year we’re doing a Groupon to the Isle of Wight for two days.
We’re also hoping for a trip to Lincoln, Manchester and Blackpool in the next couple of years, so I guess they’re on my staycation wishlist!

Oh Rachel, I really want to go to Bath! It looks absolutely stunning, I bet you had a wonderful time. The spa’s and outdoors bath’s look like something out of the Roman era. It’s definitely a must go to location.
Sounds like you have a lot of sightseeing & plans to do. The Isle of Wight is stunning, fond memories of heading there with my Nana & Grandad too.

For my entire childhood we spent pretty much every holiday in cornwall, sailing. And I’ve tried as an adult to make sure we get down to Falmouth as much as we can. We’re off for a week later this month and although it’ll be raining (it always is when we camp) I can’t wait.

And you’re brave camping at Leeds – I love a good festival but I always did Leeds it the sensible way – getting the bus back to my flat and warm shower (and a few more drinks in town). It’s not as rock and roll but having used the festival loos there really wasn’t much that could sway me to stay 😉

Oh you lucky thing, Cornwall is such a beautiful place and so many people have wonderful childhood memories there, its so great you can keep going and creating even more too. I know someone who is at Flamouth Uni & it looks so lovely to be by the sea all the time – it makes me a little jealous, hehe!

I am brave, but VERY lucky as we can camp in the guest camp site, which is MUCH cleaner, much less rowdier and all round a lovely camp site to be in. We also live up the road so essential morning naps, showers and breakfasts are easily obtainable! Hehe!

BABE! You are so NOT reading in to the photo, because it’s so true LOLOLOL! I literally laugh so much because you have actually described this hair cut to a T! I’m so glad I was not the only child with this cut. My hair just grew so weird which did not help & it still is growing weird!
