Don’t Believe What They Say About Black & Blue | QueenBeady

Black & Blue

Leather Jacket Topshop | Top Reiss | Trousers Mango | Bag C/O Oasis at House of Fraser | Shoes H&M

Don’t believe what they say about black & blue not going together. I recently read that the Parisians love pairing the two colours together to create the chicest of outfits. So of course, when I read that I happily pick out blue and black items out of my wardrobe and with a sigh of relief, know it’s okay to put them on at the same time. Phew.

You see, you probably already know that if you read my blog, I take Parisian style tips very seriously. Parisian woman are effortless in how they style themselves from being a #GIRLBOSS in the office to running a small errand to the shop – they always get it right. And, they always seem to do it with a trusty leather jacket, so of course this is never off my back – especially with the turbulent weather at the moment. I mean, where has British Summer Time gone?

I’ve also noticed a trend that is slowly starting to do away with big bags; whilst I am all for a bag that can house the kitchen sink, I’m pretty tired of having to carry something of a similar weight. A perfect shoulder bag is something every woman needs. In black of course. But in all seriousness, it’s a quick fix for when you need to pop out and just need the bare essentials such a phone, keys and purse. This one from Oasis at House of Fraser is perfect for just that & I’ve not looked back since I picked it from the range. It’s safe to say this will be going everywhere with me at Leeds Festival later on this week because of it’s ease (and plenty of pockets.)

I just want to take a moment to appreciate this top too. The solitary blue item of this outfit, but by golly is probably the best. This beautiful navy top from Reiss is made of dreams. It’s the right amount of dressed up casual that makes it okay to wear for any occasion. Since it entered my wardrobe, it’s made plenty of exits to be worn over & over again.

Do you steer clear of pairing black & blue together? Or do you embrace the two tones? I’d love to know!

I love it. I always heard that rule and have always ignored it! Rebel that I am! Just trying to decide whether to go to Leeds to see Metallica on Sunday – should I?! It’s a lot of money we could be spending on our bathroom reno…. xx

Love your jacket, I’m in the market for a new leather jacket as mine is battered from years of wearing it.

      Hi Lizzy,

Mines quite a few years old – you can’t deny yourself of a leather jacket!

I feel you on the bag front – I ALWAYS used to carry the biggest bags on Earth on my arm, and I’ve noticed that I’ve just felt so much more free and able to move around easier with a smaller one. Thing is though, somehow the small bags tend to hurt my shoulders more?! haha HOW IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE?! I really loved this look lovely 🙂 and in all honesty I don’t get where these ‘rules’ come from, like, just wear what you wanna wear people! aha I personally thought what you put together is lovely, and definitely achieves that minimalist but still lookin’ fine goal. Love it!
(ps. your hair is gorgeous and that flick in on fleek)

      Hi Hannah

Completely get you here. I spent my weekend wearing a backpack, which was so much easier than a big bag but somehow my shoulders absolutely kill. Typical!

Rules are made to be broken, so hey, that’s what I have done 😉

Ps. Thanks for the hair compliment! It was actually the wind sending it in all manner of directions, LOL!

I have never really thought into the whole ‘don’t west navy and black together’! I’ve always thought that a black top looks nice with navy jeans anyway. I love your leather jacket here! They are so perfect with throwing with anything 🙂
