Pizza in the Park, Church Fenton | QueenBeady

Pizza in the Park Church Fenton 1

Pizza in the Park, Church Fenton is a cute little addition to our local area. It’s one that is welcomed with open arms in my eyes. I mean, who doesn’t like pizza? If you don’t, you might want to stop reading now. Situated on the outskirts of Church Fenton, the site is named The Old Park Plantation and it’s home to the wildlife protection Trust too. Set in among 14 acres of woodland and ponds you’ll get a glimpse of the wonderful outdoor restaurant that is fast becoming a hit with locals! From March the 28th, you can come along on a Saturday night between 4pm – 9pm & enjoy a pizza that has been home-made and cooked in a traditional clay oven. How authentic?

We had my sister staying for the decidedly hot weekend and we really wanted to eat out but the thought of getting dressed up to go out to dinner just didn’t seem appealing in the humid weather. After seeing this place all over Facebook I knew it was time to try it out. You’re welcome by a large tipi & a marquee where the pizza’s are created, here you can buy your drinks and home-baked treats too. A bottle of beer was from as little at £2.50 and they had lots of choices, from cider, beer, wine, prosecco – the choice was vast and flowing well.

The pizza choices consist of about 6 or 7 different pizza toppings, which all sounded amazing to say the very least, but I’m really in to my chicken topped pizzas at the moment so opted for that. So did Mr C & then my sister, Jessica went for a Margherita pizza instead!

It was pretty busy, so we went and sat by the lake for the perfect evening view. It was pretty busy with families, who I imagine were trying to keep away from it in fear their child might decide to go swimming. But, it suited us down to the ground because it was much quieter, setting an ambient tone on an early Saturday evening. It did take about 20 minutes to half an hour to get our food but the staff were working tirelessly to keep up the pace – especially when so many people were there.

When our pizza’s arrived, it was plain to see and understand that a pizza like this was worth waiting for. All the toppings were perfectly executed, not burnt but well cooked and it was just so, so tasty! Washed down with a bottle of beer it was the perfect way to spend a lazy, Saturday evening. Even the ducks decided to come out and enjoy the light, breezy evening – although they did become rather camera-shy!

Bellies full we agreed it was a great pizza and we would definitely come back soon. Maybe we would leave it a little later, meaning a slightly faster service and not so many people about.

Have you heard of this place? Or, have you even been? I totally recommend it and would love to hear if you decide to go!
