I actually never set about coming to Ed’s Easy Diner to do a review. It was a pit stop to refuel after trying to find the perfect pair of Nikes for my little feet (check out my instagram to see what I ended up buying, here!) My little sister loves this place & for some reason we have never tried it. Probably because we don’t have one on our doorstep but when we headed to McArthur Glen on Saturday it just had to be done.

To me, if I was to own a café (which I idly dream about daily!) this place is EXACTLYwhat I would have in mind. The 1950’s style has always fascinated me, ever since I first watched Grease and Danny & Sandy had a date at the ”Frosty Palace” I knew I wanted an American style diner one day.

Ed’s Easy Diner just oozes ”coolness”. The interior of this place did not disappoint. At all. With the 1950’s tunes playing, to the chrome style menu displays, the milkshakes in big metal jugs. I could scream at how happy I was at the authenticity of the place. Yes, I know it’s a chain but they do the whole thing so bleeding well. I was literally in heaven. A US / Burger Filled / Bright coloured heaven. But what about the food I hear you ask? Well, I was totally blown away by the choice of typical American-esque burgers & hot dogs this place served. I was literally drooling before I had even sniffedany food. It was a toss up between three, the Coney Island Hot Dog (a chilli laden sausage with lots of cheese!), the Pulled Pork Burger (Christ, what are you doing to me Ed? I love a good pulled pork burger!) or Big Bubba’s Burger (burger, cheese, bacon – need I say more?). After flicking my little brown eyes between all three and pretty much having the world’s biggest meltdown (hey, food means a lot to me. Mr C can vouch for that!) I finally settled on latter of the three. Mr C even chose the same, that always means we are too scared to venture for something else in case the others is better, married life, eh?

Our server Julie was great! And I mean really great. She was super efficient, friendly, the biggest smile and even helped with recommendations. When she told us that the drinks we had chosen were free refills I could’ve swung my arms around her & hugged her there and then. After taking our order it took about 10 minutes to maybe quarter of an hour to get our food, it was pretty busy so I was expecting a much longer wait. It gave Mr C & I a chance to decided whether or not we had made the right decision so when our big plates arrived in front of us we smiled at each other across the table and didn’t waste any time getting stuck in.

It is what it is. A no-nonsense, not pretending to be anything else, Burger. But by god, what a juicy, flavoursome, packed to the rafters burger it was? From the crispy bacon to the mustard covered gherkins everything was exactly how it should be. Did I mention the onion rings? They were delicious round circles of deep fried goodness, and this is someone who doesn’t really like onion rings. Can I get a ”converted” up in here? To finish off this this mammoth plate was also a heap of fries and some coleslaw, you know, to just wash it all down with. Mr C was defeated much earlier than I was. Did I mention I like food? So I cleared up the remainder of his onion rings and then suitably held my hand up high when Julie came to offer us the desert menu.

Again, I was completely flabbergasted by the choices. Did I go with a milkshake or the peanut butter cheesecake. I mean how is a girl supposed to choose? Insert that emoji where it looks like something painful is happening to that little round yellow head (you know the one I mean, right?) then it was like God Almighty was shining a massive light around one thing & one thing only, the chocolate brownie & vanilla ice cream, finished with Hershey chocolate sauce. DING DING DING, we had a winner. Julie smiled and happily told us we had made the right choice. I always knew I liked Julie. And she was to be trusted because MY GOD. It was the most delicious thing that had entered my mouth in a long while (no jokes please, we keep it clean here!) it pretty much melted in your mouth and ice-cream just completely finished it off.

Our bellies full and feeling content, we asked for the bill. It came to just over £33 pounds which I didn’t think was too bad considering how much food came, the quality of it and the brilliant service on the day – I’d happily return without a moments hesitation.

Have you been to Ed’s Easy Diner?  Have you been greeted with the same ”service with a smile” when you’ve been?

Oh my god, this place looks SO GOOD. My boyfriend loves this sort of place so will definitely be saving your post for future reference! Except now you’ve got me dreaming about brownies at only 9.10am… not a good sign 🙂

      Hi Sophie,
Tell me about it, all I can think about is this food. I have been since Saturday. I’m desperate for a naughty burger & fries, especially when they taste this good.
It’s super quirky! I loved it.

I had dinner in Ed’s Easy Diner tonight! I love the styling of the place – I’ve also wanted to hang out in a cool fifties American dinner ever since I first watched Grease and Ed’s Easy Diner ticks all of the boxes! I especially love the music – the little juke boxes on the tables are such adorable touches. If you visit their website the same incredible fifties rock and roll plays – I could probably use their website instead of iTunes, the choices are just that great (who doesn’t love a bit of Elvis Presley?).

And yes, the food! Sorry, clearly got carried away with my need to feel like Sandy there. I’m a vegetarian so it’s always a bit of a worry that I’m going to be presented with a mushroom in a bun when I go out for burgers, but my burger was fat and tasty and I loved the sauce which they topped it off with. I had the sweet potato fries which were also a-may-zing!

      Hi Charlene,
What a lovely, lovely, looooovely long comment to come and read! Things like this make my little day.
Yes these places you assume that it is about is MEATMEATMEAT, but it’s not. Someone mentioned this place is pretty good at Gluten-Free as well (I think I must’ve skipped that part!) so it looks like they cater for a lot of people’s needs which is just AWESOME!
So glad you enjoyed your experience there, because that is what it is, an experience!

I’ve been to this Ed’s Easy Diner before and loved it! The food is pretty good, but the winner for me is the decor. In love! xx

YAY! It’s super cool & the waitress, Julie was just so nice! I wanted to just give her a massive tip (which we did, because we just couldn’t believe how good the service was?!) I definitely recommend it to anyone who hasn’t been!

It really was delicious. It really was. I’m not sure, I just tried looking but it just takes me to the UK options! I’m sure they will be.

I love an American diner 🙂 Im also planning a trip to York for April, so looking at all the possibilities. It looks like a gorgeous city.

    1. QueenBeady Avatar

      Hi Laura,
YAY! York really is a wonderful place to come and visit, I’m proud that it is my home town. In terms of Eds Diner, there is one at Vangarde Monks Cross & one at Designer Outlet (this is the one we went to!) so there isn’t one in the centre of town that I am aware of. But it’s good fun to go try it.
If you need any handy hints or tips for York let me know 🙂
