I must warn you before you start reading this, no matter what time of day it is, you will crave the above foods until you tummy is substantially filled.

You may have read here about our wonderful stay at Ox Pasture Hall recently. I promised to bring you a second instalment about the dinner at the Courtyard Restaurant. I can assure you it most definitely warrants a second post. Have you not seen the photos above?<!

On arrival we booked in for dinner at 8pm so we could make the most of the rest of afternoon lounging around without having to rush around too much. As we made our way down to the bar we were greeted with two glasses of prosecco to drink whilst we perused the menu. I could certainly get used to the 5* service, would it be okay to make my husband a butler?!

Now Mr C & I love to eat out, but we are never really drawn to the fancy restaurants, so for us, this was a brilliant way to experience the whole wining & dining ‘’shebang.’’

We were a little late starting our meal, but as soon as we sat down we were greeted with a spicy soup appetiser that came in the cutest of little espresso cups. We glared at one another, not quite sure if we were to just pick the darn thing up and swill it or politely use a spoon. We went with the former & it was absolutely delicious. It was the perfect amount of spicy and not too much of it, it certainly got my tummy rumbling for my duck pate. Sadly, the duck pate wasn’t my favourite pate I have ever had but it was still yummy, the redcurrant jelly that came with it really spruced up the taste.

Would you believe that in between our starter & main we were brought yet another appetiser. This time we were treated to grapefruit & whiskey sorbet sour and my word, I have never tasted anything so spectacular in all my days. It was super zingy but ever so cleansing. I think I could have chosen this as my chosen poison if I had been on a night out! I was so sad that it was just a tiny shot glassful.

Now, my main was beautiful. The belly pork was cooked to perfection and just fell in to pieces when I cut in to it which is how I like my whiter meats. Accompanied with a delicious potato gratin & black pudding I sure was getting full but I wasn’t going to miss out on a desert now, was I?

And I didn’t want to miss out on this desert, oh no I didn’t! A smooth cheesecake with a zingy lemon yoghurt & sorbet. It literally was a party in my mouth & I think after my earlier dalliances with the sour sorbet I was in the mood for more. It was delicious and certainly a good choice after a heavy meal as it was cleansing on the palette, too.

After the culinary feast we sipped on our last few mouthfuls of prosecco and retired to bed. I commented that I felt I had just been at Michelin star restaurant and I had never been so spoilt in my entire life. I only wish I could have shared with you Mr C’s choice of dishes, but he was too busy enjoying it for me to photograph it (us bloggers, ey?!)

Have you ever been to The Courtyard Restaurant at Ox Pasture Hall? What did you think?

Belly pork is something I would rarely have but after trying in a restaurant for my birthday I am all over it. That dessert looks divine and it’s a shame the pate wasn’t the best you’ve had as I loooooveeee it xxx

Belly pork can be very sickly if not cooked right, but this was just perfection! I think I’m just used Mr C’s Grandma’s delicious homemade chicken liver pate, I’m a little spoilt, ha! The desert was DIVINE! So cleansing but delicious at the same time. Glad you enjoyed 🙂

I don’t normally go for cheesecake but there was DEFINITELY something that drew me in with this & I’m glad I did get it, because it was SCRUMPTIOUS!
